Can't speak for how Norton may have felt there, but that was pretty damn good and Jason seemed to like it too.

It was spot on. I was surprised at how good it was.

No! Opie set it up, so it was bad and awkward and terrible!

There's plenty of shit to hate Opie for but people on this sub reallllly reach.

Has nothing to do with Opie, has everything to do with Reddit/Imgur/ "Look at me!" internet culture. Everyone wants to be breaking news, or show people something cool and get upvotes now. A lot of it is really funny and organic, sure, but forced shit isn't unique to Opie or this subreddit, or even Reddit.

Everybody wants approval and praise. It's what drives most comedians.

wut?

Jimmy probably looked uncomfortable because

  • Shelly asked a comedian to do a bit from his act - a douchey radio thing that they have cringed over time and time again.
  • Also, it's someone doing an impression of someone else - who isn't a friend but, instead a major celebrity - while Jim is sat in between the impersonator and the impersonated.

EDIT: So, rewatching the clip - Opie sets up Godfrey just like a talk show host would. Asking a question, already knowing the answer, with a pre-planned event immediately following.

"Do we have a clip from the movie?"

"Yes, I think this is where I'm blahblahblah"

"Oh, wow, okay. Let's see"

He's a white, somehow less talented Byron Allen.

Its unbelievably how unaware of shit he is, he would always do that shit to ant and every single impressionist I've ever heard talk about doing impressions they hate nothing more than being demanded to do it on the spot, it's like asking a singer to bust out a tune unprepared, it's not gonna be his best and it's the same as going hey do your bit about whatever, chow is he so unaware of how to treat a guest like that after 20+ years of working with comedians and having a fantastic impressionist as your partner

I agree but the way he asked Godfrey to do it sounded like there was a pre interview like on talk shows. Maybe the Stangels used some of their Letterman experience to get that info

Earlier in the show Jim said he invited Godfrey because he wanted to meet Statham.

Opie said, "Yeah and I heard he has a Jason Statham impression!"

Jim: Yeah, but I would never ask him to do it because that would be humiliating

Opster: ...I'll ask him

If there's one thing Opie prides himself on it's making people uncomf-tuhble.

Jim: why do I fucking bother?

Looks at account balance

Oh thats right, I am the paycheck

Jimmy is a sweet boy

He's trying to hide his face... Poor Jim http://imgur.com/ei6fpRo

Ooh I can almost feel him cringing. That was a good impression, though.

Gilbert's been tanning.

Fuckin home run Meryl

didnt look all that uncomfortable to me

the seating arrangement is so bad

i douched out hard later on when they were talking about the soccer guy orgy video and one of the Stagel blobs basically told Godfrey "What would Jason Statham say". OOF!!!

It's impossible for any mindful individual to have an inkling of respect for the entertainment industry knowing these utterly worthless, literal blobs of feces have willfully been given legal tender to be part of any creative process for I'm guessing 20ish years now. An absolutely clueless industry.

Nothing cringy there. Jim just looked out of place since this is a conversation between two alpha dudes who don't need to order trannies.

Do da bit!

This is exactly what a reaction of gregshells looks like. Poor guy

Jimmy always looks that way.

jimmy always looks super uncomfortble when hes filmed

Jim Norton looks super uncomfortable when _________. Anyway, that was a good impression.

It was great until he applauded himself.

I thought the awkwardness was aimed at Godfrey pandering to Statham in the set up, with the librarian shit. Good impression though.

Poor Jimmy. That's not where he wants to be.

That's a fucking brilliant impression though. I mean I hate the show and am half-hoping Opie gets an aggressive form of lymph node cancer but it was a good fucking impression.

Jimmy looked like a young Robert Durst towards the end there.
