So here is is now, trying as hard as he can to be a viral sensation. I think he re-signed in a bid to buy himself some time. This is the man who sells signed photographs of other people's subway graffiti. He's trying to diversify his output.
He's trying to make his own characters and do his own stunts and built "OpieRadio" into a seal of approval. The problem is that he is neither funny nor skilled. He's an old man who doesn't understand what is going on in the culture and can't be bothered to keep up to date on trends, as evidenced by the show.
I bet there's a whiteboard somewhere that has all his ideas, things like "prank phone calls" and "do [sic] a Asian voice." He's stuck in the 90's, which is a really goofy decade to be stuck in.
If he was smart ( yeah yeah I know...) he would've spaced out the buying. Add 1000 per week until he has a big interview or "viral" video on his channel and then spike it by 10,000 or so. Make it seem like he is slowly building more and more followers. Don't just add 175K out of nowhere. It was obvious to everyone when he suddenly had 325k followers overnight.
