I have listened to every show for the last 8 years. This sub has made me scrutinize Opie's lack of talent in such a way that I can now only listen to shows where he isn't present. I don't want O&A back, I want Anthony & Jim back.

i have listened to them for years and joined reddit just two days ago... I assure you, it was not lurking on this sub that has made me hate the opster. It was the past three weeks of the true Opie that has made me hate him. I have always disliked him but i hate him now.

I hate him more every day

I've never disliked the guy as a man. Sure I've taken some chicken-shit snipes at what the man does when he leaves home and starts the show, but some of the shit that gets thrown at his family and all the wishes of sickness and misery are just sad to read.

Finally some sense. Never understood why people wish death upon a guy who speaks on a radio, which they chose to tune into.

when I listen to old shows I miss them all together. when I listen to Opie radio it makes me so angry I question everything I've ever believed.

I don't hate Opie. I don't even dislike him that much. My primary feeling about O&A has always just been sadness that the show is gone. I'd still take all three of them over an Ant and Jim show, because I thought the dynamic of the show worked perfectly as it was. Nopie shows were great, but I wouldn't bet they'd retain that vibe if it was a permanent thing, especially in the form of a 'video podcast'.

I have listened since 2000. It became apparent early in my listening days that he was a no-talent hack whose one trick was to be over-the-top mean to people for a shock laugh because he was born without wit. Then he stopped even doing that and just became a lying sack of shit who was incapable of taking a good ribbing. His stories were never believable (VH1, modeling, mafia, etc.) and his opinions always seemed very juvenile and lacking any real thought or reflection - almost as if he had the mind of a 13 year old. I listened and loved the show because of ant and Jimmy, but Opie irritated me. Then I found this sub and realized I was not alone. And all his other shortcomings and despicable behavior became even more obvious. Soon I was relishing in the fact that I had others to share my stewing opinions with. Call me a hater if you'd like, but hating implies irrational dislike and my hatred is well-founded on the basis of all his contradictions and shitty behavior. So no, to answer your question, I don't hate him less than I think.

I think the best thing about him was that he was a simpler, less threatening radio guy that would ask easy questions and was willing to do the standard promo interviews which allowed them to get big stars on. Ant and Jim on their own would probably have seemed too weird or edgy to be as mainstream as O&A was for a few years.

I don't really want the show to get back together. I've come to dislike Ant a lot, and I dislike everything about Opie now. I can still listen to the old shows, but anything new would just be hard to listen too.

Then again a lot of the stuff about them that bugs me know bugs me with the old shows now, but I can still enjoy them. But I dunno it'd feel phony if they got back together. Maybe someday. Then again they'll be like 60 by "someday" and what is even the point then.

Let me put it this way. Jimmy is one of my favorite people on the radio and I stopped listening to O&J after a week and have only checked on a couple clips since then.

I have never hated and at one time tried to defend him. Its just that he needs to accept his role as moderator. He was good at keeping the show moving from topic to topic and the behind the scenes stuff. Ant and Jim were the reason people tuned in. He has talent for the business but being funny isn't it.

I'm not delusional enough to think that O&A will get back together, but the show was amazing from 2006-2014...even the last couple of years when they were slowing down sounded amazing. Be honest with yourself...you may not hate Opie as much as you think.
