Jimmy should tape a comedy special in front of Anthony. Anthony is the only person in the theater. Jimmy tries to be funny in a way he knows Anthony will like, not in a way he thinks a random person would.

Self deprecating fat Norton was the best. When Jimmy decided to loose the weight when patrice died he lost alot of the funniness that he brought to the show. Jim sounds like a middle aged fat lady now... he talks about "cheat days" and going over board by having desert after his healthy meals. Im embarrassed for him.

I think if Anthony was still there, it would not be as obvious. The interaction between Norton and Anthony would always be humorous, even with the fact that both of them were becoming less creative and funny.

But with no one to bounce his humor off, it just sucks. Listen to any Chip (wasat?) or Uncle Paul comment by Jim....it gets zero response from that asshole Opie. "So....ummmm.....where are we at with the dock-you-mentries" is about all you get now.

But yes, I found Jimmy the funniest on WNEW when he first stated, and about 2-3 years into the satellite.

Listening to him on O&J, Jimmy seems sedated and it's just sad. I miss when he would get angry at callers and argue for an hour about anything.

He did throw a full blown tantrum over his headphones the other day. It was actually kind of unsettling (and childish).

I've done radio. That's a sensible reaction. You get used to a feel and sound of some great headphones and then you're given some tinny sounding shit that has that weird vinyl covering that makes your ear sweat...no. day is ruined.

No, but I personally think that Patrice is smarter than that. I don't think Patrice would have signed with either Opie or Anthony after they split because he would have seen the decline for both, and he never seemed to care much about the money. Of course thats just speculation because unfortunately we lost that genius :(

I honestly think he's starting another act. He's letting go of his addictions and trying to take control of his life. He's getting rid of his "safe" things and taking a step forward and I think (hope) his standup will reflect that.

He's talented and I hope this helps him get out of his niche comedy and allows him to write outside of his cyclone of self pity and comfortable life. His life and routine have changed drastically with the show changing and I feel like he's embracing this.

I think people are romanticizing fat Jimmy the same way they romanticize the WNEW era. A lot of that material really hasn't aged well.
