Curb is consistently funny, and there are established supporting characters who are all funny in their own way. That's why he gets 10 hilarious episodes very season. He's given himself so many options to make scenes funnier, and he loves it when another character steals the show. I don't think Louie could create a Leon character. He fucking cast JV Smoove and that was the least Smoovey I've ever seen him.
Who are the supporting characters in Louie? They change all the time. Who does Louie interact with that can change the direction of the story, or the nature of a scene? There are none. What happens if a scene isn't working with one character but might with another? Tough. This is how they were booked.
He plays the straight man in his own show, but he has nobody to play off.

Curb might be the greatest show of all time.
It's amazing how influenced like all of our comedy now is by The Larry Sanders Show.

Louie - Dark humour, surreal and a bit pretentious.
Curb - More laughs, goofy as fuck and never takes itself too seriously.
