Prediction: The Stangel Brothers will be phased out of the O&J Show.

Ignoring the fact that the staff clearly doesn't like this decision. Their comedy is light-years away from O&J's audience. They bring nothing to the table for the OpieRaqio Channel. I'm sure they'll do great on other channels, but this one ain't for them. Nothing can save the O&J show...

I read your OP and all those reasons you think they'll fail seem like the reasons they'll succeed. Opster wants things toned down so the middle-aged moms can enjoy the show. Not to mention he doesn't care what any of his staff think.

Like any other sububan soccer mom with milf tits, opie just wants to sip lattes with other soccer moms like the stangels. Opieradio will be rebranded Soccermom Radio. Creepy Uncle Jimmy will be kicked out of Opie's Volvo because Opie is tired of hearing complaints about Jimmy from concerned carpool moms. The Stangels will say there's not enough room in their wood paneled station wagon to pick Jimmy up. Just then, Uncle Anthony will pull up in his creeper van to save Jimmy

The idea that people honestly enjoy O&J blows my mind

At most, I can see people putting it onnas background noise at the job or in their cars. Just mindless babble to make the clock tick by faster. Beyond that, no.

ME: It didn't work out. Management reallllllly wanted them, but AT DUH ENNA DAY the Stengels were BROOOOOOODLE.

I agree they're jumping on a sinking ship (steered by Captain Op), that no one would be able to save.

But I actually don't mind them. At the very least, they can bring a little knowledge to an otherwise boring conversation. And anyone taking time from Opie (or Esther Ku) speaking, is ok by me.

I think they'd do great on some non-XL stations.

AND if Jimmy leaves - I can totally see the Opie Show moving to clean show w/the Stangels. Yuck. Morning Zoo here we come.

I like this theory except I don't see Jim leaving unless forced out, i.e. his contract bought out by XM.

Jim needs not only the money, security, and structure but the platform to promote his gigs, keep his name out there, and be a peer to people like LouisCK and Burr. I don't see Jim going anywhere voluntarily.

I suppose it's possible he could have his own show on OpieRadio. He'd need a 2nd mike and support, though.

I understand Jim needs all that .. but will the listener base grow w/this PG-13 addition? My guess is it stays even or drops off... I'll be listening less.

I've heard every show they're on and while I agree the namesake should be drowned out by multiple speakers I also realize their humor is different than mine. A good measuring stick for O&A humor is making Jim wheezy laugh and so far the best they've mustered is the Jim fake laugh.

O&A audience is way different than the O&J audience. I would imagine they're closer than you think.

I have to break down and check out one of these recent shows, I gotta hear this shit.

I want it to go the other way. Management will love them so much that they'll toss out the sloth and they'll replace him.

Did someone mention sloths? Here's a random fact!

Despite the name, Two-toed sloths actually have three toes. They only have two fingers though and they generally move a bit quicker than Three-toed sloths.

I was able to listen yesterday. I was taken aback by the Stangle brothers' contributions.

They added nothing but mindless (unfunny) banter.

These were the big reveal hires? This show is dead.

I know I cannot believe that they are actually going for this. It is so far out of the realm of what the show is supposed to be.

The only thing that could save O and J is either bringing back Anthony or bringing in Ron Bennington. There isn't really anything else

It's clear that they will never hire ant back for this show. They will sooner hire Pete Holmes or that Fluffy Guy spanish comedian. They'll be no cursing on the show in 6 months.

I think you have it backwards. Jimmy will be phased out and the 3 dads will talk about playdates, bat mitzvahs and meerkat.

I was all-in in meerkat, but ever since Periscope, I had to tap out.
