Was subway right for sacking employee over tweets about dead cops? I'm saying no.

They really had no choice, but how stupid are these idiots saying "shame on Subway", "never eating there again", etc? Like the views of one minimum wage "sandwich artist" have anything to do with the company. I'm frightened that there are people this stupid among us.

The choice would be to fire or not to fire.

Right, but they realistically can't stand behind somebody supporting cop killings in the world we live in. That would cause a major shitstorm that could seriously damage their business, with no chance at any gain. It's a fantasy to think that any sizable number of people would be on board with them as the champions of free speech. They're looking at this from a money standpoint, plain and simple.

Besides, they didn't ask for this and they really shouldn't have to take the hit over it. It's not their fight, I'm sure they just want to make their sandwiches and collect that cash.

They kind of should if they don't want to appear hypocritical and in the interest of fairness. I think the fantasy lies in that they would lose business because someone posted something on social media. Also can a boss fire an employee for showing support for an opposing football team? Is there a line? Who draws it? Not sacking her wouldn't be standing behind her as in supporting her views. Just allowing her views to be her own. I agree with what your saying as in how they see it. I just think the way they see it is unfair and hypocritical.

Easy choice. Dumb bitch who makes Subway look like they employ subhumans vs. some free speech argument that does not benefit Subway in any way since they would be forced to support said murder loving subhuman.

So it was an easy choice to sack Ant then?

Has Anthony commented on this yet? He'd have to defend the black girl posting her joy over dead cops, right? ohhhhhh noooo. A moral conundrum

If I were Ant I would argue this situation is too different to compare. A sandwich artist who probably hasn't even worked for a year with the company, has an easily replaceable job with an easy skill, somebody no one will miss, and specifically referred to finding joy in a cops death versus a man who has been with the company almost 20 years, has brought millions of dollars in revenue to the company, someone who has been a vital part on O&A and even SiriusXM with talent that can't be replaced and in his point of view, never specifically called out black people. I don't know what to think myself but just am trying to think of how Ant would defend himself or his views in this situation.

Like it or not, in the corporate world public relations rules, to the detriment of employees on the extremes of both sides of the political spectrum.

"Sandwich artists" are easily replaced, and keeping this idiot on board would have been a PR disaster.

Lol wouldn't this be a defence to sack Ant? I get it though, you probably don't like it. Suppose the best thing to do if you are employed by a corporation is not post opinions on social media.

Yep. Had she just gotten a Reddit account, and not given out her username, this would not have been an issue.

Ant held on way longer than I thought he would.
