None of the good comics want to come on and riff for free anymore. So they hired the writers for a guy who hasn't been funny in 20 years. Opie and Anthony didn't even exist yet when Letterman was actually funny and not mailing it in. Letterman was rarely funny when telling the scripted jokes anyway. Letterman's only really funny when he's spontaneously riffing and acting goofy or like an ahole while he's interacting with someone. The top 10 lists and monologue jokes were always pretty lame. So, remember the part of Letterman's show that never really worked? Yeah, let's hire the guys behind that shit. YAY!! The types of people who liked Letterman's monologue and top 10 lists ain't really the target O&A and O&J audience anyway. Opie is so desperate to go viral but then hired 2 duds from a show that's being pushed out the door because it was unable to go viral.
The only comic who will continue to create an illusion of funny for Opie's Show is Vos, and that's only because Opie basically owns Vos professionally. I highly doubt that Opie has made any money yet from his investment. That Documentary was a flop. Maybe Bonnie shouldn't have released basically the very same documentary as a
Legendary comedic icon like Joan Rivers! That's so sad. And to think of all the work Lynsi did producing this film.

1-He would say the instant feedback was moving so fast he lost the name. And #2 - He would get defensive and say "Do you know how many people sent that same fucking joke?". Um, Yeah. One!

You're absolutely right, he does credit jokes. I'm talking about the times when, let's use the infamous "retarded prom" bit where they read a story about a special needs prom which turned into Ant, Jimmy & the listeners chiming in one at a time with a funny one liner that was so mean & wrong that you felt guilty for laughing at.
Ant & Jimmy would just rapid fire hilarious one liners back to back without stopping(of course) but Opie couldn't think of anything funny to say so he would just sit there in a low voice and keep repeating fuuck! And he would also read the lines from instant feedback & credit then.
But then after about 10 minutes, he would coincidentally stop reading instant feedback and all of a sudden, he would mysteriously come up with funny joke after joke! To be honest with you, I don't know if he did that in the Special Prom Bit. That was just an example of the type of bit he would steal jokes, and then after a while, he would have to acknowledge the pissed off fans because it was coming in so much, he was afraid A or J would bring it up.
Even with this hiring, Opie will still acknowledge that the listeners will know which lines are his and which are the Stangels and he'll be so self-confident that he'll start or end each line with "and this one from Justin..."
It's absolutely ridiculous SXM is spending all this money on writers and new studio for a show that can not succeed long term. Jimmy will leave after this contract and all the writers in the world wont teach Opie comic timing. They had a show that the same improvements would have been worth while and justified, but they fucked that up.
They're putting time and money into this when it has no potential for gaining subscribers. Opie is on the downswing career-wise, has been since his marriage, and the only goal should be subscriber retention.
Sirius can't let it die without fighting for the show after they spent all that money on raises and a new studio. I bet the new studio was part of Ooies contract so they have to build the contract regardless how shitty the show is.

None of the good comics want to come on and riff for free anymore. So they hired the writers for a guy who hasn't been funny in 20 years. Opie and Anthony didn't even exist yet when Letterman was actually funny and not mailing it in. Letterman was rarely funny when telling the scripted jokes anyway. Letterman's only really funny when he's spontaneously riffing and acting goofy or like an ahole while he's interacting with someone. The top 10 lists and monologue jokes were always pretty lame. So, remember the part of Letterman's show that never really worked? Yeah, let's hire the guys behind that shit. YAY!! The types of people who liked Letterman's monologue and top 10 lists ain't really the target O&A and O&J audience anyway. Opie is so desperate to go viral but then hired 2 duds from a show that's being pushed out the door because it was unable to go viral.

The only comic who will continue to create an illusion of funny for Opie's Show is Vos, and that's only because Opie basically owns Vos professionally. I highly doubt that Opie has made any money yet from his investment. That Documentary was a flop. Maybe Bonnie shouldn't have released basically the very same documentary as a Legendary comedic icon like Joan Rivers! That's so sad. And to think of all the work Lynsi did producing this film.

Let's be honest. Do you really think Opie has any problem using other people's funny lines? Christ, how many years now has Opie stolen a funny line from a listener on instant feedback and then laughed proudly like he thought of it? I remember listeners used to send messages saying Opie stole their line and didn't give them credit. Opie always had 2 excuses for that whenever he got caught.
1-He would say the instant feedback was moving so fast he lost the name. And #2 - He would get defensive and say "Do you know how many people sent that same fucking joke?". Um, Yeah. One!

You're absolutely right, he does credit jokes. I'm talking about the times when, let's use the infamous "retarded prom" bit where they read a story about a special needs prom which turned into Ant, Jimmy & the listeners chiming in one at a time with a funny one liner that was so mean & wrong that you felt guilty for laughing at. Ant & Jimmy would just rapid fire hilarious one liners back to back without stopping(of course) but Opie couldn't think of anything funny to say so he would just sit there in a low voice and keep repeating fuuck! And he would also read the lines from instant feedback & credit then.
But then after about 10 minutes, he would coincidentally stop reading instant feedback and all of a sudden, he would mysteriously come up with funny joke after joke! To be honest with you, I don't know if he did that in the Special Prom Bit. That was just an example of the type of bit he would steal jokes, and then after a while, he would have to acknowledge the pissed off fans because it was coming in so much, he was afraid A or J would bring it up.

Going by Opie's behavior in the last year, I'd say this is the first move to get Jimmy out. He still has not developed a relationship or chemistry with him from the comments here, he doesn't get Jim's humor, and I have a feeling he's going down the same road with Jim that he did with Anthony. Narcissists do the same thing to everyone, eventually.
Plus, I can't imagine the wife appreciates or likes Jim's humor. Linzi is a shot caller here, too don't forget. "You need a show I'm not embarrassed for my friends to listen to, all he does is talk about touching kids! Ewwww!"
