It hasn't even been a year here. That Bruce Mittman thing was encouraged by all for about 4 or 5 years. Then it sort of went away, for the most part, for around 2-3. When the odd caller would do it every so often after that, Jimmy had had it with them.
It was the "O&A Army" for a number of years too before everyone (even Opie) realized it had gotten stale and embarrassing, prompting the change to pests. There's a million other examples, show-related and non. Any meme has a tendency to last more than a few months.
