At one point, Maron was my most hated guest of the show. Those years he was going through his divorce, he never said anything funny. He just came on and bitched and was miserable and came off like some kind of angry NPR douche. Absolutely hated him, would turn the show off or ff til he was gone.

I know. I think the interview that turned me around was Mel Brooks, I want to say that's the first episode I ever heard. I was like "Wow, this guy is an amazing fucking interviewer." Then I slowly went down the rabbit hole. Of neurotic jewish misery.
