I know I have been bashing Greggshells like many of you since Ant's firing. But at the behest of my wife calling me out, I will share this. We were in the car the other day and she said "no Opie and Anthony?" (she still calls it that, she knows its not named that anymore) I replied "No I can't listen to that douche Opie anymore." Then she called me out "Funny you seemed to like him when he was coming into the bar, you fan boy!" Anyway, I have a bar in an area of upstate NY with a lot of tourist, hunter, fisherman traffic. Eight years ago Opie and Bob Kelly came in and had drinks after a day of fly fishing. They couldn't have been more pleasant patrons. That first night they ate dinner and didn't stay long, but I could recognize something about their voices, when Opie paid with his card, I recognized him then and just said "I'm a big fan" and I left it at that.

The next day they came in for dinner again. As they were having dessert Opie told Bobby that I was a fan. They invited me to sit and BS for awhile. The bar was fairly quiet that day and it was fun. They let me ask questions about the show. Asked me who my favorite guests are, etc. (Peckahs) They hadn't been on XM long at this point and asked how I had heard about them. We ended up talking mostly about fly fishing. Chip Roll. Spots they should try etc. They stayed almost until close and took pictures with me and the staff, since I played there channel in the kitchen the staff all knew who they were too.

The last night they stopped again just to say goodbye and thanks for the tips (they had reached their limit) The bar was busy that night so I barely got to talk to them. As hypocritical as this sounds I really have nothing bad to say about Gregg. Meeting him he was very nice and friendly. My wife's point is that Opie is most like all of us haters on here. None of us are really funny but we are normal. Jimmy and Ant are hilarious, but such dysfunctional people we could never just sit down and shoot the shit like we could with Opie.
