I honestly found his rants entertaining most of the time, with Jim and Opie prodding him he'd work himself up into a frenzy and cease trying to make points, he'd become so outrageous and over the top that I couldn't help laugh. I think bitching about management or technical problems and watching Youtube videos on air were far bigger problems with the show.

I could have done one occasionally. It got to the point where it was almost daily. Opie certainly didn't help because there were days where he would make one comment because he knew it would get Ant going.

I basically agree with Ant. That said there is such a thing as leaving things unsaid. It seems ranting like that just turns people off a bit. Maybe just make a humorous remark about the riots and link to some footage.
