Hearing people say shit like that in this day and age is probably my favorite thing in the world. I do think were ultimately fucked, but it's so satisfying that there are some still putting up a fight.
The one thing I always liked about Barkley was that he liked to gamble and drink and shoot off at the mouth and refused to modify his conduct, even when married. A marriage that has lasted since 1989, by the way, more than a lot of moral crusaders can say.
His quotes on the subject are great. "There are a million men in jail who can slam dunk. Are they role models, too? I am not a role model."
"The media demands athletes be role models because there's some jealousy involved. It's as if they say, this is a young black kid playing a game for a living and making all this money, so we're going to make it tough on him. And what they're really doing is telling kids to look up to someone they can't become, because not many people can be like we are. Kids can't be like Michael Jordan."
Not necessarily. He's black, so he's exempt from the white man's burden; he can say just about whatever he wants and act like an idiot, and people will still be happy that he's not prancing around with face paint and a spear.
I think it's neat to see minorities get called out by the super-sensitive feminists, sexual deviants, etc. I'm tired of them saying whatever comes into their heads without fear. They started it with "their word" so I want them to know what it feels like to walk on eggshells as they awkwardly try to appease everyone and master the intricacies of newspeak.
Lol Shaq fucking loves it. Barkley and Shaq are literally the best 2 things about the NBA at this point. I remember watching some mundane regular season game last year and somehow Barkley got talking about how he gets his eyebrows waxed, and one of the other commentators responded incredulously "You get your eyebrows waxed??" and Barkley responded as casually as ever, "That's not the only thing I get waxed".
My respect for Charles just went up 10x. Nothing is worse than pussies having to apologize because some stupid little group writes a letter. Fucking joke
I think it's a bit different when yo a high-steppin yella. If a whitey had said what Barkley said he would be canned, this goofy nigra does get away with a lot.

He's a role model to me because of this.

Isn't it ironic?

It's fucking weird how an ex-basketball player is one of the few we have to rely on as far as rationality in mainstream media goes

Charles Barkley is amazing. He proves that refusing to apologise works.

Patrice used to talk about this gem by Barkley:

Barkley reminds me of Patrice. I hardly watch basketball but I'll watch that show just to hear Barkley trash bad teams and players

Kenny Smith (who is a jackass) was actually really funny here.
"So what are you apologizing for?"
2 evadcobra1 2015-04-23
You forgot the best part about that, Charles Barkley showing how the big ol women down there eat churros
"come on man, you know Victoria's a secret down there"

This is the role model white people need.

Made me literally laugh out loud, and loudly too.
I love Chuck. One of the few people in America who gets to say what he wants without apologizing and nobody cares.
