"The luckiest guy in radio..."

Brought in Anthony when he was doing duct work, and then brought in Jimmy when the show was falling apart.

Anthony would have been the funniest AC repairman in Greenlawn without Op, and Opie would be doing some local morning show without Ant- they were both incredibly lucky.

The only reason Jim knew of the show was from being an opener for Dice. Dice only liked the show because of Ant's Dice impression. Most likely some other talentless "home of rock" FM douche would of picked up Anthony and now that douche would be in Opie's position. Opie is by far the most replaceable part of the 3. He's the luckiest guy in radio.

I think you're wrong. I'm basically the President of the I Hate Opie, Fuck Him In The Ass Fan Club! (I know, catchy name) But I always try to be honest and I've been forced to defend Opie in the past. I doubt Anyone would have picked up Ant. First of all, Opie was really stupid in a way for bringing ain't aboard but nobody else would have for the same reason a supervisor will never hire someone capable of taking their job! Second of all, Ant did Not have the motivation or resources to go apply at other stations. And Anthony was a lot funnier than Opie but maybe even back then Opie was dillusional about his own talent. If there was a God, Ant would have replaced Opie when the ratings came out. So that's the only reason I can justify Opie making what he makes.

are you sure? i could have sworn i remember ant talking about how he used to send out shit all the time to radio stations to try and get out of what he was doing.

I'm probably wrong about Ant not trying to get in other stations. Maybe he would have eventually landed a job in radio. I'm just saying that it's not always easy to get your foot in the door.

oh definitely, especially at any kind of decent paying gig. i think he said he was sending out tapes to anyone to just get anything haha. opie just happened to have been the one that jumped on it. now opie may have been smarter than others to not treat him like a joke parody impression guy, but someone i think would have picked him up.

lmao youre acting like radio is the extremely difficult thing to get into. anthony really wanted to do radio, he found a way in with opie, and he would have found another way in without him. anthony got his start with goofy song bits. carolla got his start calling into a radio show as a shop teacher character. that youtube celeb shaycarl got a radio job after being a regular caller to some station till they eventually hired him.

you can debate whether anthony would have been anywhere near as successful, but pretending like he could never have done radio without opie is just absurd.

I think Ant had plenty of motivation crawling around in attics making 20k a year. I just think he had so much talent for radio that he would of ended up on radio one way or another but obviously I have no way of proving that. Can we still agree the talentless, unwitty, unfunny, unknowledgeable on pretty much anything, barely literate, has a hard time pronouncing things correctly Opie, is extremely lucky to make it in the radio industry?

i do believe that Ant said him and joe were canvassing many stations trying to find an "in" so that they could get the fuck out of their day jobs.

So Dice saved the show? I'll go along with that! Spread the word people

Mr Cumia would be dead. It's balanced out well.

no, but he'd wish that he was because he'd still be married to jennifer. possibly with kids.

Opie is a millionaire with no apparent talent or skill. We don't consider Ant lucky because he's actually talented.

Once again you fuckers are forcing me to defend Opie. Yes, Ant had talent. That doesn't mean he had the motivation or means to go knock on the door of every radio station and he couldn't do a resume without experience. Someone else said it already and they were right. Basically Ant would have and still be the funniest guy at Atlas. Opie took a big chance that very easily could have ended his own career considering the garbage they put out in the beginning.

Ant was getting material on at Howards show, I think he might have been better off never meeting Opie

Jesus, the Opie hate has turned some of you into complete idiots. He'd have been better off never meeting Opie? Do you not realize how insane that sounds?

My point is Anthony had a shot with Howard that he lost after teaming with Opie, this has nothing to do with Opie hate, it's simply understanding there was more than one path Anthony might have found success

"Finder's fee, Wade?"

yes ofcourse theyre both lucky. opie is just luckier because he got to rise to the top with two talented guys, despite having no talent himself.

Steve Jobs didn't invent Apple all by himself... he brought in the Woz to do the heavy lifting... Jobs was still a brilliant visionary....

Opie is the Jobs of satellite.... have at me.

have at me.

You fucking piece of human garbage.

I always felt like Ant carries this knowledge around on his shoulder and is a bit more humble since he knows what it's like to work long hours doing manual labor.

Hey! Opie was a caddy !

Yeah, when I think of Anthony Cumia, humble is the first word that comes to mind. That's not to say he's a bad guy at all, but come on.

Wow great analysis! Never heard this before

You're right, what this place needs is another 15 fat tit threads.

Get out of here with logic. Only blind hatred allowed around these parts.
