I know it's en vogue to shit on lil jimmy's stand up around here, but that trailer was damn good. Insightful without a faux veneer of academic righteousness.
Not really. It was using his use of current events, to contrast styles & how the business has changed where a comedy special CAN be about current events (Where-as in the past, usually club-spots were for current events - not specials)
But unlike in the past, when a comic at his level may have had limited chances to produce specials, Norton can be confident that in a year or two, someone — be it Epix, Netflix, YouTube, or a content provider yet to be created — will want to put out a special from him. His hour doesn’t have to be an enduring masterpiece; it can just be what’s on his mind right now.
Edit: Just for fun. Chris D’Elia is the comedian from "Whitney", who Anthony hilariously referred to as "Dickbag" in their discussion about how horrendous that Whitney Cummings sit-com. Everytime I see him, all I think is "Hey, it's dickbag!"

There will always be a niche for Jim Norton, just like there is for tranny porn.

Same niche.

It's a good review imo. As the author notes, being topical for someone that releases a special every year is not a bad thing.

Nice job, Jim. Will purchase.

Jimmy's far from my favorite stand up-wise, but each special he's put out I've liked more and more

Ouff. That was rough. The special isn't even out and it's already deemed dated material...

That Chris D’Elia clip was terrible.

His standup usually is. I only ever laughed at him riffing on crowd interaction.

Skimmed, but I always thought DElios was a solid gold douche.
