Who here listens to O&J?

I've listened to it as background noise but never really gave it a chance (and haven't at all since the firing of Cumia). I started actually listening to episodes and have surprisingly enjoyed it. The one with Louie, Vos, and Hadfield was absolutely great, and I actually like the chemistry that Opie and Jim have with no guests. It's pretty much Opie playing a douchey front man with Jim being a silly little boy in the background doing characters and making intentionally bad jokes. Sam and Erock are a good combined third mic and the show prep they do pays off.

It's gotten a lot of hate, but Jimmy and the staff are really making this a funny show.

The thing that really ruins the show for me, even more than Opie's drivel, is the lack of Ant's intellect.

Say what you will about his opinions, Anthony is smart, knowledgeable, well read motherfucker. He would pick up the slack for Op and Jim whenever a topic came by that wasn't just simple celebrity or trendy garbage. He knew how to flesh out complicated issues or concepts and make it interesting and entertaining.

Now, we have a show with a moron and a dummy who have no interests other than reality tv or black sabbath.

He also had the best interviewing skills out of the 3 of them. Opie kinda asks boring, obvious questions, Jim asks fairly naive questions although in a funny way at least. Just listen to Ants interview with Larry King recently and you can tell who has the talent in that department.

I'm pretty sure I know what you mean by 'intellect' . . . and you're right, it's been gone since he was fired.

Eh, I do miss that, but at the same time I don't mind the lack of "intelligence". And I know Ant is a smart guy, but I'm putting it in quotes because a lot of what he said was just a memorized fact from some TV show or magazine he read, and not actual insight about the issue.

And I don't really miss it that much. I never look back at my favorite O&A bits as Ant being intellectual about something.

I cancelled as soon as they fired Anthony. Not because I hate Jimmy and Opie. Because XM is very expensive when you lose the person you are paying to listen to. If I was a Stern fan, when he retires I would cancel this over priced radio the day after. I miss Jimmy and Opie, but without Anthony I just don't see the value.

Unless there is some of the good comics or a good guest in, the show is unlistenable. How many just Opie and Jimmy shows have there been, where there are no guests at all?

Without good comics ( Florentine is an example of a not good one) the show is simply too much Opie. He is a lying bore of a man, and when you add in all sniffing, out-of-breath gasping mid sentence, and complete bullshut stories it is too infuriating to listen to. But when there are comics in smashing each other, Tits feels much more insecure so he talks less. Then it is not bad to listen to as a show. Still far less fun than it was with Anthony in though.

That's how I feel as well. It's more tolerable when they have those comics in but there's way too much Opie and not enough funny for me to want to listen to every day.

I do. It's a hang, and I have a crappy commute.

I'm also the first to admit that it is not as funny as it was when Ant was there. However, I was insanely sick of the racial and guns shit, and was changing the channel frequently by the end. Leave that to Limbaugh and Savage. And it wasn't just because i don't agree with Ant's politics. Daily lefty rants would have turned me off just as much. Sirius has right wing and left wing political channels that I also choose never to listen to.

The highs are not as high, the lows are not as low. I just like hearing the hang format on my way to and from work, and I'm glad it's still there for what it is.

I've had a lot of hours to kill lately and started listening for the first time since Ant was fired.

The first full show I've caught was Louis and Vos this week. It was tolerable but its weird. Opie sounds like he's trying to embrace a more self deprecating thing, which is probably good for him, but it doesn't feel like they're hanging out having fun. It feels like Vos and Louis are attending some college lecture where they could skip it, but they should probably show up.

Just seems like with that amount of people it would have more energy. Its background noise after lunch for me, I'm not really listening for entertainment, it's just nice to their voices once in a while after listening for so many years.

With Jimmy there it probably would have been as entertaining as it should be in that scenario.

I am still all in. I am a bit of a radio nerd though. I have a month of shows to catch up on. Tapped out of artie's show cause I just was trying to listen to too much. When the fight happened the other week I started listening only to the new shows of ants and o&j. I think it has been pretty good on both sides for the most part. Sometimes I think I wanna tap out of a show then Jimmy will get on a roll...I dunno, this sub has a lot of good points about Opie and I have only been listening to full episodes since donuts and tequila day so I am a bit of a newbie...anyways what drew me to them was the shots at stern. I started finding those on YouTube and then I started finding fights with other broadcasters I was aware of and eventually I started listening everyday. It really isn't as good as o&a but I still love these silly rich new Yorkers...

I'm trying to get back into it now with the death of R&F .... cry.

Your life is a sad movie.

I listen everyday, I don't think it's that great, but I work 55 hours a week and generally have something playing the entire time. I used to be a Stern guy, but I just couldn't take listening to him circle the drain anymore.

I don't listen to Ant much, mainly because I consider it a video podcast, and I don't have access to video at work.

I think Opie is aight .... In that he doesn't really add or hurt the show often except when he tries for the funny, that is cringey... Jimmy is the piece of the show I've always loved and I think at times he is actually better now that he is the lead comedic voice on the show. Sam is good, and S&J would probably be better than O&J.

I hear people saying the show is crap now that Ant is gone, and I can't really comment on that because i didn't listen regularly when he was there, I disagree with him in a lot of ways (Guns, Blacks) and he always pushed his agenda's in the listeners faces, which is why he is so polarizing, but the people who love him, love him as much as they do.

One thing I can tell you is that IMO the serious interviews have gotten better since Ant left, not every celebrity does well in "The Hang" environment Opie does a better job in most cases of keeping the interview legit than it was before. I thought the interview with the Astronaut was good, and they we're basically shitting on the guy all morning, I think had Ant been there, that would have just continued through the interview. Which would have been funny, but not as interesting.

TL;DR - Show is ok, not great, but has moments. Probably still best SiriusXM talkshow

I listened daily until they renewed. Haven't since.

I listen a few times a week. It's still solid. Obviously missing ant big time, but they've done a good job rotating soder, Sherrod, and florentine who I like all 3. Plus sam is cool too. I repeat I MISS ANT TREMENDOUSLY AND ITS NOT AS GOOD. But it's still better than anything else out there, including TACS

I still listen but not like I did to O&A(every second of every show), there's a lot of skipping ahead and tapping out. Oh and im sure as hell not gonna pay money for it.

I listen to it every single day, and every time I listen to it I wish Anthony was back on. I think that's most everyone's opinion here.

Somedays I get optimistic and listen to it on Youtube. Then after a few minutes, I get douche chills usually from Opie trying too hard to be cool, that I have to turn it off in disgust. I cant even listen to it for free...

Opie is a bore. the real chemistry was Ant and Jim. Still listen most days but feels like a train wreck to me.

When they have a good comic as third mic and some decent guests the show actually ends up being good at times. I only listen when I hear someone I like is popping into the studio.

Without Ant though the shows can be rough. I don't have Sirius Anymore so I only listen on Youtube.

I try to, but it's never on. It airs live in the mornings and then I used to catch it in replays. I can sometimes get 20 minutes or so in the morning on the way home from my night shift, but that's about it.

Now, I get in the car and I'm hearing "Accelerated", featuring a bunch of shows I don't terribly care about. The short O&J bits that do make it into Accelerated I hear the same ones probably 10 times a week, which should probably tell me how good the show is now.

I've listened to every show. The first couple of months you can tell there was a struggle to find chemistry without Anthony. I think they have found some chemistry in the last couple of months. Adding the comedians everyday and Sam is really finding his own voice, have made the show really good. It's not o & a, but I like it.

I thought the show was great the past few weeks. The butthurt that causes some people is hilarious.

great propaganda post!!

It's pretty much Opie playing a douchey front man with Jim being a silly little boy in the background doing characters and making intentionally bad jokes.

You mean Shelly being a douchey, humorless, all-eyes-on-me front man who cold shoulders Jim every time he tries to do a character? Yeah, the show's HILARIOUS.

In summary, you're fucking stupid and should die at your earliest convenience.
