Rogan is the most honest person to have tackled this thing.
12 2015-04-18 by [deleted]
I guarantee it's because he does a lot of mushrooms. He's able to see beyond the bullshit. He called out everyone on everything, Ant and his stormfront stuff, why they changed the name, why no one else is trying to get OnA back together.
Everyone is always pussy footing around this whole thing, Rogan's the first one to ask they questions that force people to address certain things and not ignore them for arbitrary reasons.
That is all. Do mushrooms.

Nah that's Larry King, he called Opie out almost instictively.
41 billsinthefridge 2015-04-18
Larry died 17 years ago. His body is just continuing on calling bullshit auto pilot.

The man is a pro-fessional. Look it up in the book.

it WAS pretty amazing how he just sniffed it out like that. after all the shit they gave him on their show, i was pretty impressed how he just came in and fucked shit up.
i dunno if he had help, or he had been saving his revenge for a moment of weakness or what.
1 gormbo 2015-04-18
he has been taking HGH since the 90s

I was so damn shocked at Larry King. Those were some Keyser Soze jedi mind tricks he pulled on Opie with that Columbo-esque routine of his. I always thought King was an old out of touch fool who didn't know much of anything about the people he interviewed. For example, the time he and Seinfeld got into it:
http://youtu.be/NZfUgVSfKdQ
Now I'm wondering if that was always just a part of his Columbo routine to act like he was clueless so that the subject would unintentionally reveal something ugly about their personality and then he would turn the screws on them.

I did acid and mushrooms a lot when I was young. It's an interesting experience, but so is riding a roller coaster, being drunk, huffing ether, snorting coke, etc etc etc
Hallucinogens as a way of seeing "the truth" and Joe Rogan being smart are both wildly overstated by fans of each.
3 KenFrezno 2015-04-18
Nobody is implying psychedelics "unlock the truth", but rather that they teach whoever takes them at sufficient doses that everything isn't as it seems on the surface. It's up to you what you do with that revelation, and in Joe's case it's been a powerful tool in his life.
-1 poolitzer 2015-04-18
Can't you just do the same by thinking? You don't need drugs or cheap tricks like meditation to attain self awareness and to think through things. Someone like Rogan might need it because he seems to live a rigid, scheduled take charge lifestyle focused on conquering whatever obstacle is right in front of him. Because he abhors laziness, he probably just never takes enough lazy time to think very deeply about things and see tge big picture, so he has to schedule time to smoke weed or float in a tank so that he can just chill out and think. The weed and the tank are artificial shortcuts to achieve what can be achieved naturally by just chilling the fuck out. Not really a knock on him though. The man's been very successful because he lives his life in a very charged up way

Notice how non-psychedelic induced spiritual practices have a huge emphasis towards pushing the activity. "Do prayer, do yoga, do mediation, GO GO GO for 10 years, then maybe we can get somewhere." With psychedelics, regardless of your belief system or agenda, a great deal of attention is immediately shifted towards locating the break pedal. Do you see what I'm saying? I hold it you can deprogram yourself from cultural values and extinguish bullshit that's messing with you inside, but God damn are psychedelics a QUICK shortcut.
I don't see any good reason to not use the tools that nature has provided us. I think knowledge is provisional, and that it's partly in us and partly not. It's very self serving to think that you'll find enlightenment from the spiritual supermarket. If you can humble yourself down to the presence of something that's idea of a home is on a cow turd, then maybe you can get somewhere.
0 [deleted] 2015-04-18
So what, you're supposed to stare at the wall or something? Lol. How do you think he chills the fuck out, he goes in his deprivation tank or smokes weed. This makes no sense at all. What is lazy time? He's said he was addicted to video games, does playing for 12 hours straight mean he's being lazy?
What do you think meditation is? It's chilling the fuck out and paying attention to your thoughts.

Comparing psychedelics to cocaine and alcohol just screams anti-drug, drug war brainwashing. I bet you grew up in the 70s or 80s.
Since when do you experience ego death on coke? Come to the conclusion that the concept of 'I' is arbitrary? It's proven they enhance creativity, and has been recently used in studies to help people get over the fear of death. It shifts your perspective.
Very often its a 'zoom out' tool. Realizing how insignificant our lives allows you to not take things for granted as much. Like with this, life is short, fuck wasting time with OnA seperated, get them back together asap.
9 gormbo 2015-04-18
I bet you grew up in the 2010's
0 rottengymshorts 2015-04-18
Aren't we all still growing up? I mean, isn't that what life is about?

Long-term psychadelic use can also take a brilliant mind and shunt it into raving lunacy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_C._Lilly#Earth_Coincidence_Control_Office_.28ECCO.29

Rogen, like Ron are O&A fans and they, like the rest of the O&A fans didn't want to learn the truth, don't want them doing separate shows and have their own questions and solutions. Ant is right about one thing though - repairing their off-air relationship doesn't mean he'll be allowed back on the air at SXM.

if norton and opie really cared they wouldnt re-sign in the first place, how many have we heard norton talk shit about ppl fold like a pussy then the first chance he get to prove himself different he fold like a pussy himself
6 RickMirer3 2015-04-18
What a bunch of crap. "If you care you won't sign." That's so co-dependant. They signed because they have their own careers to worry about.
1 michaeIcolestie 2015-04-18
So true.
16 GeekyNerdyEgghead 2015-04-18
It is very naive to say that shrooms, weed or whatever makes you a good person.
I met people who were liars and cunty douchebags and they used shrooms and other similar drugs.

Its like meditating - someone could be a douche and sharpen their awareness and use their mind to put down other people, or use it for good. Many zen buddhists compare psychedelics as the 'fast track' to meditation.
8 truthie 2015-04-18
You're a fast track to being a dope.

-5 A_Beatle 2015-04-18
It's not that it necessarily makes you a good person it's that it increase your odds of being one. The fact that you're willing to even try them already means your open minded which is a huge boost to being "good"
10 TriangleDimes 2015-04-18
Go fuck yaself, does everyone here do mushrooms? Cause he's saying the same shit as everyone here. You don't need to do mushrooms to ask good questions.
5 cabaretcabaret 2015-04-18
Do you need to do mushrooms to lighten up and get a joke?

Don't besmirch the good name of comedy like that.

I think it's mainly due to his alpha male personality. Mushrooms just made him much less of an asshole than he used to be.
5 Grillskillz 2015-04-18
Tried shrooms when I was a teenager. Underwhelming expirence
2 KenFrezno 2015-04-18
Take more. 5 dried grams. Look up what that actually looks like on your hands. It's a heroic dose.
0 loabaron 2015-04-18
Terence McKenna was a disingenuous charlatan.
1 KenFrezno 2015-04-18
Or had access to drugs that WORK. Study mycology and get on it.
1 loabaron 2015-04-18
by study mycology, do you mean take lots of mushrooms? because I don't think that counts as studying.
Its cute that you have just discovered Bill Hicks and Terence McKenna, but Mckenna talked a lot of unsubstantiated shit, and the works he cited as evidence for the stoned ape theory were all published by his own company. His talks on culture and society were interesting, but pretty much all of his actual theories were deeply flawed, very scientifically questionable and/or just batshit insanity.
If you actually studied mycology, you would know that. There is more than enough information available.
1 KenFrezno 2015-04-18
By studying mycology I mean you should learn to be able to differentiate dangerous species from psilocybin ones. Let's not get hurt here. As for stoned ape theory, it's at least fun to talk about and offers a plausible explanation for the increasing size of the brain, perhaps not the correct one but it's at least something worth looking at. And nobody but Mckenna was crazy enough to run with it, that's what made him so dear and special. He was very keen to attack science and really loathed it all together, so it's not uncommon to find some conflicts in the science department. You're forgetting that he wasn't a scientist, he was a philosopher. You didn't explain what you find flawed and why, so I can't really give you anything else.
4/10 at best I can give you, but honestly go take some psychedelics right now
