I agree 100%. The video feed should be nonessential. If he acts as if it's radio, the resulting video will be just as good as the VideOandA stuff with its obligatory visual descriptions which are sometimes very funny (ex. Judd Hirsch "just skated in on penny shoes.") Sure beats dead air.

And the bringing on of permanent cohosts, which will prompt a changeover to a more coversation-centric program, should also prompt a changeover to a fly-on-the-wall camera setup, which should make the guests more open and relaxed. I wonder, for instance, if Patrice would have been as forthcoming about his prison experience in Ant's current impersonal newsroom-style setup. But perhaps nothing but absolutely pure radio can ever afford that depth of intimacy.

Finally, as I said elsewhere in this thread, maybe a Theater of the Mind Mode™ video dump button could be useful in making any extended music-backed impression-based bits more effective and transporting. (Ex. Three Stooges bit and '50s voice bit)

i enjoy the option. i love seeing how people communicate, the little things expressed change the dynamic in comparison to just hearing it. but, i mostly just listen to the show while doing other things, so it's essential for him to remember not everybody is watching.

I just think there's value in strictly audio in some instances. For example when he used to do that "'50s" voice with that big band musical bed, or when he did that Penn State Curly bit with the Three Stooges theme playing. I don't think either of those would have worked nearly as well with video of Anthony. The former because it's actually supposed to emulate an old radio guy and the latter because he's switching between three characters.

I totally agree with this. He needs new subs and I doubt he's going to attract new listeners with what he currently has going. But I think he's building on something and I think he knows what works. Hasn't been even a year yet. Would be awesome if he could get Ronnie, but sounds like that door has closed with the new show with his daughter. Fucking Soder would be a great fit. He has radio experience, he's quick and funny, he riffs well with Ant and he has great stories.
