I do not wish death on him, That's pretty friggen over the top, But when you realize what a sleazy douchebag he turns out to be and you realize that you have given him a pass on his lack of talent because you thought he was a stand up guy you do feel a little betrayed and for that reason I would love to see his big contract end and watch him get sent packing. Then Id love to see a real talented person Like Ronny B take the spot with Jimmy.
In the mean time its pretty damn amusing watching the fans do to him what he encouraged to be done to others for 20 years and seeing how he cant handle it!

You get invested in a show you listen to 4 hours a day 5 days a week for a decade. And when for example you have to tolerate one of them bitching about how stupid management is and how they don't know anything they don't have the right "tool set" and should just leave them alone. and this is hours and hours for years and then all of a sudden the same person says "management is really liking the show". You take pleasure in watching someone so full of shit being called out on it. No i don't want anything bad to happen to him or his family. Just watching him fade into obscurity.

I honestly would not hate Opie (or as much) if he was humble, secure, and could take a fucking joke. Granted, this would make him an entirely diff person than he is. I would like him to act like someone who knows they are not very talented but hit the lottery regardless and thankful for it. I don't know how someone can shit on everyone and everything and be so ultra-sensitive when the slightest shot comes his way. I loathe everything about him and always felt he added nothing.

I don't wish death on Opie, and I would completely stop my bashing of him if I at all got the vibe that he was genuinely sad or just openly admitted that it gets to him. That's maybe my biggest beef with his personality - that attitude that he knows what's good, that he's better and more aware than all of his audience, and that people who dislike the awful O&J show are just "haters".

But the reason why I am very hateful towards him is because I think he is seriously radio poison. His entitled attitude makes it worse, because it contributes to him thinking that he should step in and run the show at times when he shouldn't. I can't tell you how enraging it is when someone calls in with legitimate criticism and he has to turn their mic down and shout over them about how he's been doing this since he's 18, or that he understands radio, etc. I loved Opie and Anthony (the show) - it's one of the most entertaining things I've ever come across in my entire life. But it's fucking amazing that I do, considering that Opie is on the show. It speaks volumes about the talent of Ant, Jim, and the wonderful comics they had in on the show, that they were able to make the show work with him on the air with them.

Opie is not funny. He's not interesting. But it goes so far beyond that. He doesn't just give bad input because of that, his role as a show-runner means that someone who doesn't understand funny/interesting dialogue makes decisions like frequently cutting a great segment short because they "had to get to" a clip of last night's American Idol, and he has some of the funniest most insightful comedians come in and talk honestly in a way that we will never hear again, and those segments are ruined by Opie shoehorning in a segment where they comment on a clip from The View - but mostly they just listen to it and say "wow this is bad". Yeah, of fucking course it is. I'm not even going to go into the millions of examples of sensitivity and "Greggshells" attitude. There's too many to speak of, and we're all familiar with them.

I know how shitty some radio can be - that boring, vanilla morning radio show that targets soccer moms driving their kids to school is less interesting to me than silence. But those hosts are typically doing exactly what they're supposed to do - which is deliver a bland, inoffensive show that pumps up their fake laughter because the listeners are too stupid to know any different. Opie trashes that shit constantly, but the truth is that he is much worse than those people. They do their jobs the way they're supposed to. He does his job close to the worst way he possible could.

Again - it's not just his verbal contributions. Pretty much everything he says is boring, unfunny, or a lie. Sometimes he completely makes up a story and even the fake story isn't funny. But he also kills good moments on the show. The show would've been much better without him at least for the last 10 years, probably more. And it's that fucking attitude that people don't "get" what he does, that he "steers the ship" successfully, that the show has "passed by" people who don't like it, that criticizers are "haters" and "dummies" that have no idea how to run a radio show. That's what really pushes him from unlikable to completely hateable. For the role that he's in, I literally could not imagine someone who is worse. Everything about him sucks, nothing about him is good.

I could go back and find posts of mine on Wackbag trashing Opie from years ago (which tells you what a loser I am). I've always listened to O&A and been actively annoyed by the guy and thought he was an asshole. However, since the Ant firing, trashing him on here stopped being fun. It stopped being about valid criticisms and became more about everyone rehashing the same six jokes and grasping at straws in order to stroke their hate-boners.

Opie's a douchebag, but this place has actually made me soften my disdain for him.

I would dislike Opie a lot more if it wasn't for the unreasonable arguments on this board. During Anthony's show he made some valid criticisms of Opie; he is hypersensitive, unable to take a joke, and has often stopped the light-hearted environment of the room with bitching and complaining. However, people highlight his flaws much more than Anthony's and Jim's. They also deny that Opie has any influence on the show's success and is just a hanger on of Ant. I can have fun with sensible arguments, but the irrationality of the people on this board is sickening and makes me want to root for Opie more.
