What was the point where you had finally had enough of Opie?

Mine was when he gave up doing show prep. He stopped watching guest's specials, movies, tv shows, books etc. because "he had two kids". Jesus Christ, most people work more than 3 hours a day with more kids and can still manage to watch a 30 minute show.

When Opie gave out Erock's number during his vacation. That entire bit, from giving out the number to paying Erock his weight in quarters, was fucking horrible.

When stupid revealed he was paying in quarters, I literally shivered in embarrassment.

Oh, no, he did that? What a fucking hack radio douche.

IIRC, the money Opie gave Erock wasn't even the amount he'd said he'd pay.

You're right, he undercut Erock.

The multimillionaire jewed Erock over. He wanted his tassste for doing such good radio.

I can tell you at least one person who thought Opie's method of payment was hilarious/genius....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1XgFsGq1Fs

Shit like this has always pissed me off. You aren't getting back at anyone by doing it. All you are doing is ruining the person's day who has to count it.

That was a very cringey morning zoo bit, paying his weight in quarters. That is the apex opie's ability to be funny

Shaq Balloon. It was funny initially but he killed it. Kept repeating Shaq Balloon Shaq Balloon Shaq Balloon over and over replaying the clip for an hour and brought it up again in the days to come. He hit 1 joke and he had to keep bringing it up over and over.

His needness on trying to make that a thing was embarrassing. It was never going to be a thing. The original bit wasn't even more than marginally entertaining and it was a visual bit on fucking radio.

Probably sometime around 2007, after the move to FM wasn't going so well. Once the FM ratings weren't a hit, he went "all in" with trying to get a viral video and build his "brand." A lot of people forget that in the height of the Myspace thing (2005-2006ish), Opie did not participate. Ant and Jim would have friendly competitions about their number of friends and who's in the top 5, and Opie would say how that internet friends thing just isn't for him. As soon as he got a twitter account and a youtube channel, he morphed into his final form. The radio show numberrrsss weren't giving his ego validation, so it was up to him to make a viral video. Remember all the shit pranks with Pat Duffy? Making E-Rock wear a peanut butter mask? These were desperate attempts of a man to get his name out there, after finally seeing concrete numbers of how little people gave a fuck about "his" show.

Very good call.

He was so mad that Ant's "how to install vista" video blew up.

Sam's "Apple 5" video as well.

When he told that caller that his opinion of the show wasn't valid because that caller didn't have his own morning show.

Kinda like how a tweet is invalid because the person only has a few followers.

The world is just a big popularity contest. Which Opie isn't leading.

This is awhile ago and my memory is hazy, but they had toothpick art guy in. They spent like 45 minutes interviewing this guy, and you're just waiting for something to happen except it never does. Until Ant wrecked one of his art pieces. Gets the big laugh, everyone's happy.

Everyone except Opie. I guess because Ant somehow took his bit, Opie feels the need to top him, so he I think squirted ketchup out the window to try and hit him, but missed, hitting someone else. Then they have someone talk the guy into coming back in studio, for the payoff of Opie just smashing his sculpture and telling him to fuck off. There was zero comedic value, it was just cruel and mean. I went from feeling a little bad for the guy who at least got his plugs out to just feeling horribly for him. He was so transparent about the fact that Ant topped him that I finally realized his lack of any comedic talent to speak of. His only way of getting a laugh is to just be more of a frat bro asshole than anyone else.

The time Ant and Jim both weren't in, and there was cereal there for some reason, so Opie decided to throw it everywhere while repeatedly shouting "LET'S DO THIS", to try to start a fucking cereal fight.

Nobody joined in. Interestingly enough, Roland has a very telling line- Opie says "You gohnna let me geht away with thisk" and Roland goes "You get away with everything, you're the host". Speaks volumes.

Here's the clip for the interested WARNING: OpieRadio

Oh, god. I remember this. It was the fucking worst.

Then he proceeded to post photos of the carnage everywhere on the interwebs.

Cereal fight, what a revolutionary concept. That's embarrassing just to think about.

Great find! Great example of the presence of gregshells in the scene too!

When I figured out which one he was

When I first started listening I actually had a hard time telling them apart- which seems patently absurd now.

I could only figure it out after seeing a video of them talking. In retrospect they actually sound totally different and I feel like an idiot.

I had enough a few weeks into the XM show but my real breaking point was a small thing years later. It's like when a decade of shit builds up and a guy finally stabs his wife in her stupid neck the thousandth time she says "boughten."

Louis was in plugging the first special he was selling to fans through his website instead of selling it to Showtime or whatever. Opie was baffled, couldn't understand what was happening, couldn't imagine somebody just making a thing and selling it to people who want it. He kept stopping the conversation and coming back and back and back and back HOLD ON HOLD ON WAIT WAIT WAIT. He couldn't fucking process it.

It was when he said, "So did somebody come to you?" that I snapped. NO YOU RETARDED CORPORATE CUNT LOUIS DOESN'T NEED MANAGEMENT OR VIRAL SPIRAL TO DO SHIT HE'S SMART AND WORKS AND HAS FANS AND JUST FUCK!!!

Full-on "hater" ever since.

He did kind of the same thing to Bob Kelly recently too

I gotta go listen to this again

Do you remember the date of this show so I can listen?

Jerry Sandusky scandal. Kept stopping the fun to be "serious for a moment" and explain that pedophilia is wrong

Thankfully Uncle Paul brought the comedy home on that one.

And that Anthony's Curly impression

https://youtu.be/IeZcjrM9sYs?t=133

I need to listen to this.

Soooo Anthony got fired, guyzz.

I had slowly been building distain for Opie the last year or two of the show between the lies, trying to pump up every story, dismissing callers, thin skin, burping into the mic, halting Jimmy & Anthony when they got on a roll, mispronouncing words, daily management complaints, doing boring radio to annoy fans because “that’s the bit”, playing candy crush on the air when I was trying to listen to Ant, threatening to leave every contract, acting like a fan boy when Burr and CK started gaining fame, working his shitting on the beach story in to every conversation for 3 weeks straight, lying about how poor they were growing up, acting like he knows music vs. just the mainstream alternative hits from 20 years ago, calling watching his kids “babysitting” over and over again, telling every guest that was in a kids movie how he used to like him in the movie until his son watched it 50 times, any time he said “trust me” or “howling”, talking about getting an envelope, running the Lady Di, Denny and Bobo bits into the ground, anything to do with Cronuts, trying way too hard with his viral videos – probably more, but those were just the examples that came to mind. It was at least tolerable having Anthony and Jim there though, as they were funny/entertaining through all that and I didn’t mind skipping over the occasional dud of a segment from Opie since I usually listened on a delay anyway.

Once Ant was fired and Opie had to “contribute” more to the show and was exposed, my hatred started to escalate. Once the lack of fight to try to keep Anthony became apparent and he re-signed and magically stopped complaining about management the fire really started. Discovering this sub after Anthony’s AMA just threw gasoline on that fire.

I couldn't believe the endless Lady Di phone calls back in the day. He used to put that monster on to just yammer for 45 minutes at a time. Maybe it was another of his brilliant negotiating tactics.

Take Di over opie for radio

Did anyone hear the show last week?

Opie kept mispronouncing "misogyny"

Jimmy corrected him a couple times

Opie continued to fuck up, and Jim stopped trying to help

I can just picture jimmy sitting there, fuming, as he's trying to hold a conversation with someone that can't even pronounce words properly

Opie continued to fuck up, and Jim stopped trying

A good summary for the O&J show.

Truest statement yet made in this whole debacle.

In recent weeks he intro'd the show with that band Incubus, pronounced 'ink-uh-bus' by Opie.

He's a maff guy tho. Dude can almost subtract double digits like no other.

Opie became insufferable when the FM deal went to shit, largely because his stupid bits and constant phone call interruptions. FM side had shit ratings for a reason, bro. That reason was Opie.

In 2009, he realized he couldn't be a FM Big Shot and was on the "low class" satellite radio. He became a desperate, phony tryhard looking to go "viral" to validate his existence.

The last 2 years were the worst. His online efforts expose him as the Fredo of Comedy. "I'm funny, not cancerous to comedy like everybody says I am! People like Ant more than me! I was passed over!"

I hadn't liked him for years but I officially became a full time "h8r" when he bought Twitter followers. That fagola bought Twitter followers, an exact number of twitter followers to slightly eclipse Jimmy and double up on Ant. Right, Opie has more Twitter followers than a funny, 20 year standup veteran who did Comedy Central and Leno 80 times. I'm sure Opie has twice the popularity of the best aspect of Opie and Anthony. Irredeemable at that point. He really thinks who the fuck he is. He thinks he's the TALENT and he's the worst aspect of the show!

This really does seem to be when the shift happened and Opie really went off the deep end.

It's becoming increasingly clear that the biggest problem with Opie is his ego. Not even just with the viral video shit, but just the way he dealt with everyone.

I remember when Danny would argue with people on his twitter he said once Opie wanted a public appearance fee when the show would do something live.

He carried himself like he was king shit and it became a cancer (allegedly) among the staff and (definitely now we know) with Ant.

Ant basically said it without saying it that it wasn't some incidental organic growing apart; he chose not to associate with Opie because he was a prick and didn't want to be around him anymore than he had to.

Ant even said Opie carried his rockstar delusions of their 1999 to 2002 FM heyday into present day contract negotiations. He's delusional enough to say things like, "SXM needs us!" and always wants so much more than they're worth. Ant was always up front with the fact that their suspensions and firings made them damaged goods and that the shock jock genre has been supplanted by politics and sports talk. Opie still thinks he can get 7 figure a year 1990s top of their earnings in 21st century contract negotiations.

"Hmm, maybe if I threaten to quit for 3 months, they'll fuck up and pay me likes its 1999 again."

No, stupid.

20,000 new subscribers? They probably don't even that many current subscribers now...

Judging from the emails I get every month, it's probably radios they turned back on hoping that former subscribers come back.

I don't think it was immediate, it was a subtle disdain over the course of years.

I listened to the glory WNEW days at work, made the day go faster (4 10 hour days, the afternoons used to drag ass). Back then Opie would at least work with Ant on his jokes and stories (one that sticks out is when they were making fun of Puerto Ricans in Brentwood with the king's crown air freshener on the hood). He wasn't funny, but he knew how to cling to Ant's nut hairs to make the listeners think it was a team effort.

Then I worked from home starting in 2001, so i didn't hear them until DIRECTV started airing XM in 04 or 05. He still wasn't bad, but he could be crueler than Ant. Anthony always gets the rap for being cruel with his racial humor, but he's mostly joking and doing it for the show. Stopped listening when the XM was dropped.

In 2009, went back to my old job and started listening again on KROCK. This is when Opie would constantly bitch about contracts, the station not liking them, Howard Stern, etc.

Then I picked them up again in '13, Ant got so much better at stories, but also started discussing world issues, politics, etc. Opie wouldn't even answer or acknowlegde 90% of what Ant would say. It was "Ohhhhh, these phones are down again" "Agghhh, where's my new chair" "We were promised a new studio months ago" "I got a cold" "I got the Flu" "where's my breakfast?" "CRONUTS"

He just became insufferable.

I never liked him, but the general consensus pre-Cumia firing was always that "he helps the show run smoothly" so I just accepted that he was there and hoped he didn't interrupt the funny that day.

A somewhat recent one that stuck out, the Don Sterling incident.

Stupid goes on and on about how the players should've said fuck their contracts and boycott the games. This all happened around the same exact time he was using his contract as an excuse for not standing behind Ant; a man who was fired for his comments outside of work!

Dumb fuck Opie, too stupid to see the hypocrisy.

Clip would be awesome

Sorry, new to Reddit :)

Starts at 23:45 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ci_m9noz2NE

Thanks!

2012 - beginning every show with the same hour-long tirade about 'management' - the bus tour, studio size, mics not working.

Or the time he told E-Rock to go home and that he didn't need him.

This is when I had it. Every time he ranted about management Jim would be silent and anything Ant would say would start with a massive sigh. ME: high pitched babble ANT: uuuuggghhhhyyeeeaahh yeah yup. siiiiggghhhh

I'd always thought Opie was making up stories, but there was a break one day where Ant and Jim were talking about stupid shit they would do as kids to get attention. Ant talked about how he broke his arm, and he got so much attention from it that he sorta tried to re-break his arm, but he couldn't really go through with it...it was funny.

Opie pipes up, "OH, MAN, I just REMEMBERED!!!" and proceeds to tell the EXACT. SAME. FUCKING. STORY. that Ant had just finished literally 10 seconds ago, like nobody would figure that out.

In 2009 when they lost the FreeFM gig Opie's dream of having a nationally syndicated FM radio show waved bye bye and he went from annoying and unfunny to an annoying unfunny moody asshole. That's when i couldn't stand him anymore.

"loves the internet guy". Easily the worst attempt at humor made by any human, ever.

Clearly you haven't seen "Lonely", the unfunny fat woman who acts stupid in public

About a month into the o&j show when I discovered this reddit

I ended my Sirius sub about 4 years ago because I was tired of the same old bits. I didn't listen at all but only because I was bored of it, no hate yet. Then my interest was piqued again when Ant got fired. I started listening to O&J on YouTube and checking out this sub for more info on the firing. This sub definitely contributed to me hating Opie because my favorite thing about reddit is the ability to call people out and have it judged by a public forum. There is no hiding on the Internet. Opie was exposed to me for being a total out of touch, uniformed, hypocritical phony. His whole brand is complete contradiction and it actually makes me angry to think that this CUNT could manipulate people on a daily basis like that and then also make a shit ton of money for it.

When I heard him still using phrases/crutches/tones he and Ant made fun of from their earlier shows in present day.

PERIOD. Literally period.

I became a regular in about 2010 when I found them exposing Howard Stern and discovered Patrice and Louie CK but I still couldn't listen to Opie and Anthony on their own.

2011 was good to me I started to like their take on news events.

In 2012 they kept doing song parody contests forever and they didn't talk about anything interesting in between. Obviously no show prep just stretched out waiting to go home shows.

Anyways they got better in 2013 for some reason better guest Mike Tyson and others and whatever else but I kept noticing Opie lying and I found this subreddit then who still sucked Opies dick while /u/opiesucks was deep in the collapsed negtive.

And for a while I joined him down below till you guys wised the fuck up after Anthony was fired.

note: Anthony hated you guys then too and obviously for financial reasons and realizing where his base was learned he needed this subreddit somehow. I think he has become one of us and get's it now but if any of you said the shit you say now back then on twitter or paltalk he would block or ban your ass in a second.

But now that block might cost about $6.95 everytime.

edit: it

Turning the show into The View and blathering about his shitty kids and wife for a third of the show and when he started relying more on crutches like I was howling. Also his whiny Sirius xm rants got so tiring to listen to every day.

Gay Off. Just straight up faggotry as a bit? What an embarrassment.

I don't remember the specifics but there was a show where he told some story about taking a kid to a park or something and he LITERALLY had to carry the kid because the kid was from NYC and used to being driven everywhere. New Yorkers never walk anywhere they are driven.

And the all apartments in nyc have soo many bathrooms it's ridiculous.

It just baffles me how he could be so out of touch

New Yorkers walk more than anyone else. Crazy talk.

His refusal to acknowledge that he ever made a mistake until this week.

I politely asked how he could reconcile re-signing and buddying up with management after everything he's ever said in the last 20 years. He said I had the "logic of a toddler" and I gave him a good laugh for the morning. At that point I realized he's a selfish thin skinned idiot who doesn't give a flying fuck about the fans.

And him being a dick to Fez. Stop telling Ron what to feel

Mine was about 4 to 4.5 years ago. He started making unnecessary noise nonstop the whole show. Whether it was moving the mic at least every 15 seconds the whole show, the table drumming, the nonstop pen clicking or the eating into the mic. Also, the Greggshells thing did start to become apparrent when he would interrupt anyone who criticized him and would give them the HOLD ON or hang up.

His constant mispronouncing of words. Worsh, berrrries all that shit. And then this sub pointed out all the things I had missed before this

He once said "That's a pretty good summazation" to intern David, and when David corrected him Opie immediately went on a little rant about how David is only good in small doses.

When they used to have those stupid clips of staff members and show regulars singing songs and jimmy got annoyed with it and gregshells defended it and said that's the bit! All the times he screamed about Howard like a little child especially Howard is a hack who couldn't adapt.

I was still in until this week. I had already started to dislike the direction of the show, but Ant was WAY more candid than Opie, who sounded like a broken record. Him crying on air was the last straw. I'm officially done.

A week or two after Ant's firing. I had already started listening to Ron & Fez by then, because let's be honest, the b-b-b-boys were on a shit streak that spring into summer.

The b-b-b-boys went on a shit streak just about every summer. Opie's contract negotiation tactics clearly fucked with the comfort levels of everyone else working on that show.

Not to mention Opie would interrupt good bits simply because he hadn't spoken in forever. Over. And Over. And Over Again.

I agree with you. I also have a slight loss of respect for Ant and Jim for ignoring show prep too. Being paid over a million dollars to do something would make me the best at that thing. I promise you. To not prep for a show and just show up thinking 'the magic' just happens was very lazy and I did not appreciate it as a listener.

When he said, and Jimmy agreed, that management likes the show now. O&J was waning on me and that was the final straw.

They spent the last 5 fucking years bitching about how much SiriusXM sucks and they wanted their old XM studio and E-Lo back and now management likes the show and that's okay? Fuck it, I'm out.

I called and canceled my sub that day.

I hated him when I began listening to the archives in 2010 for Louis CK appearances and eventually Patrice. I hated Opie in the beginning, then when I started listening to every show both archived and daily, I sort of got used to him and said "well he's better now than he was in 2008 or so." You can get used to something over enough time.

I never really hated him again because I overlooked his negative contributions, right up until post-firing. The Bobby Lee and the Pete Rose shows really gave me hope, but they were all guest-driven shows and nothing to do with Opie. The hour long music bit intro (do they still do that??) and the Dane Cook incident made me finally throw in the towel. I'd been skipping hours of show each day at that point.

I'm afraid to ask at this point, but what was the the Dane Cook incident?

Dane comes in to promote his Showtime special in late 2014. Opie gets to see the special the day before the interview and a few days before it comes out. He then, not long into Dane's appearance, begins listing every single premise Dane uses in his special, one by one. "So, I liked your take on how women use cell phones in modern day relationships," and so on. When he does it, it kills all momentum in the room (which always built in spite of Opie, until he stopped everything).

It gets to the point of Dane audibly sighing every single time Op does it, because he's fucking up the special for listeners. It's not a great special and they aren't original premises, but the demographic Dane plays to is not me. If you were a fan of his and heard that show, it would've fucked up the show for you. I watched it and it fucks it up horribly. Every single premise was listed.

Someone asks Dane about it on Facebook and he responds with the following:

Opie is a champion of mine and has always been a strong support even when people were chipping away at me and my rep. I am forever grateful for that but if he ever writes down my jokes again and recites them like a fuckin' Maya Angelo poem I'm gonna throw hot soup on his lap.

http://i.imgur.com/biKE6st.png

Opie responds by linking to the comment on Twitter, and tweeting something like "Hilarious." I think he may have deleted it since. As if it was some friendly ribbing, as opposed to Dane being fucking pissed. That appearance made me mad, but the tweet made me realize how absolutely out of his mind Opie is.

Wow, thanks for the rundown, I was only expecting a link to the audio. Just listened to it and yeesh. He started off slow at first, but halfway through just started running through Dane's jokes one by one.

This was what comedians on O&A used complain about in regards to how sucky most radio is, ie going on the shows where they're expected to just do their material on command. I guess Ant's right, he really has become socially-oblivious.

My pleasure. I'm taking the day off anyway from not feeling well, might as well be of some goddamn use to somebody.

[deleted]

If you look at this through the lens of Stern jealousy, you can see a lot of Opie's humor is based in passive-aggressiveness.

[deleted]

Not only that, but his bashing of ESD right after Dave got fired. He started rewriting history and acting like he never liked Dave, and you could hear the greggshells in the room. Jimmy meekly fought back to no avail. Fine, you're annoyed with Dave. No need to shit on him and pretend he never did hilarious shit on your show.

I forgot about that... Theres just so many reasons to not like Opie. Its like multiple choice where every answer is correct.

I posted a link yesterday of when I gave up. Opie played dirty and everyone knew it, but Patrice. Hearing his reaction made me take notice and after that, Opie's presence of authority became clear to me. He never had to be funny to be part of the team, he just had to be part of the team. Instead he tried to control the team behind the scenes, but play it up on the air like he's everyone's buddy.

He's like the kid in school who wants to be the leader of every class project because he thinks that looks smart or independent but in reality he sucks at being the leader.

I never liked him. Opie is a ginger. I hate gingers.

Whenever it comes to money/bets he'll renege or "get a little taste" from something somebody else won. That's just enraging.

I can't pin down exactly when, but it was probably within the last couple years. I'd skip shows when ant wasn't in, and if jimmy wasn't there either there was no chance I'd listen.

Both little yimmy Norton and ant just had more interesting and/or funny things to say about the topic at hand, rather than nonsense like THATS THE BIT, and annoyingly playing candy crush when the topic didn't interest him.

I still check in time to time, but Id rather pay 7 bucks a month for ants show...cause hearing about bits and viral videos isn't cutting it anymore.

It was very recently, last couple of years. I mean, I listen to the 1999 and 2000 shows and Opie is actually funny. He's cracking jokes, he's got one liners. He's not cringeworthy at all. Around the XM time he kinda just... lost it. I don't know, it's weird.

So sort of what happened with Fez then. I've been listening to really old shows of him back in the 90s and during the 'NEW days and he was actually really funny. It's a shame what happened to him later on at XM too.

Opie had my full support after the firing.

Then, he got caught in dozens of lies about Anthony, the firing, his involvement, etc.

It was at that point I realized he was really an awful person. IDC about his dumb made up stories, but don't mislead me about how great you are and how much you miss Anthony. That was all cheap and ruined him for me.

When they started on FreeFM. He's always been unfunny and untalented, but before that he seemed to respect his role for the most part. His ego skyrocketed the second they were back on FM, and once he started talking more and taking more control of the show his flaws became intolerable.

As others have pointed out, this only got worse when it became obvious their big FM comeback was a failure.

When they first went to FM and Opie wouldn't shut up about Howard. It was every day for weeks. He thought he was coming across victorious but after day three it was just sad.

I can't remember a specific time but I know it had to do with one of his hacky sociopathic break things and torture innocent people for no reason things. Ant and Jim would make jokes but there usually good natured about it Opie on the other hand would make me physically uncomfortable with his shit.

Opie bringing up Sam's penis for the xxxth time as the intro and proceeding to ask everyone in studio about much PUSSSSSS their CAWKS got for 25minutes.

Many years ago, I believe during the Tiger Woods sex scandal. Opie always talked up him golf game and how he loved golf. For one reason or another the majors came up. But you wouldn't know it was the majors because this stuttering mumbling prick forgot what they were called. I, a non-golf fan, was saying "majors" at my ipod speakers with contempt until Tits got it right (probably getting the info from someone else).

Hearing him mush-mouth some trivia from a field he was "all in" in was the breaking point. I noticed all of his Alzheimer's and hyperbole after that.

When he destroyed that pinball machine Al Dukes gave him.

THE PSYCHO

The chair incident. When he went on and on and on about his fucking chair for days on air like a prima donna pissy pants. It was so clear everyone had no clue what the fuck to do with that. It was a jackass going on about a goddamn chair for days on end and it made for the worst radio ever.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhOAN1chJ6o

After that, the shit with Lady Di got really old. Hours of her just breathing into the phone and Opie thinking this was really funny. It was really obvious Ant just wanted it to go away but it felt like he had checked out because it was clear Opie was being a douche because contracts were coming up. Also the worst radio ever.

Not until after Ant's firing. I knew he made hacky videos and interrupted people, but it never really bothered me during the actual show's run. But when it became the Opieraqio show...holy shit. It became all about Opie. And Opie on the radio (raqio) is dishonest, ego-maniacal and boring. Then all you fuckers turned me on to all the shit I had ignored over the years and now there's no looking back.

[deleted]

[deleted]

I gave it a few weeks after Ant left, and I can't remember exactly what it was but he complained about something about the fans so ridiculous & unappreciative, I was like "Fuck this guy, I've had it."

Really blew, because I spend over 2 hours a day in traffic and work mostly by myself, it left a 3 hour hole of entertainment in my day not having O&A anymore.

[deleted]

Apology clock. It was so frequent and done with such a serious tone that the last few weeks of O&A were torture. We get it, you old hack, people are disingenuous with their apologies.

This is definitely up there with the dead wrestler clock. They got so desperate, they started including obscure wrestlers.

When he smashed the Al Dukes Pinball machine.

Summer of 2001

The incessant interrupting that begin in the xm days.

when he lost motivation to even talk normal.. his low cool guy voice

The first time I realized he wasn't on the level of the other people on the show was when Ant, Jim, and a guest were hilariously destroying the wizard of oz munchkins or something like that that led to a barrage of midget jokes, and Opie said "When are we finally gonna be able to have midgets as petssss?" and it slowed things down a little...and then he said it again, worded slightly differently...and it reeeally slowed things down. And I remember being really embarassed for him, waiting for someone to say how bad what had just happened was, but there were just a few patronizing "yeahhh"s and "mmm"s

During the clip where they confronted erock about the fake sick day to see conan, and opie said 300 fuckin times "i didnt do SHIT!!" It was so annoying

defending the frat douches

Probably that bitchy little fight he had with Jimmy, I think in early 2005. I've known he was not funny in any way whatsoever when they were syndicated back to Boston in 2000.

But it truly has been the last 4 or 5 years, AS A FATHER, where he has become totally intolerable. The HOLD ON shit would drive me nuts.

This is easy for me. I had only listened since 2010, but anytime Ant was out or there was a roomful of hilarity and Opie was silent. It was clear to me then. I gave OnJ a shot for about a month, but I couldn't do it. Too much Opie.

Buttery beats or Opie's Eye. Hapless misfires.

In the realm of clueless lowbrow complaining, the laments that would surface periodically about once attending a Neil Young concert. Neil had the temerity to offend Opie by not performing the songs Opie had heard on the radio decades earlier. Karmic justice was served when Opie was invited to a private performance by Sting. Who played a lute and sang Elizabethan songs.

HOLD ON HOLD ON HOLD ON HOLD ON

"melk" "burry" "sac-ruh-LIGE" "buht (put)", I'm not gonna list the 40 others. that was the beginning for me.

the end comes with esther ku. i couldn't come to listen to a show so fucking ignorant that they couldn't recognize the atrociousness of that entire deal. i had put up with their sluggish thought processes for long enough, but when they just couldn't get their heads around to seeing valid points brought up by listeners or even come up with good points of their own i had to tap out. haven't listened since that show.

His CONSTANT interruptions, I remember a show where he must have inturrupted ant and Jim every other time they spoke. He stupid fucking kid talk, Noone gives a fuck about your faggot kids but the time when I seriously began to fucking hate him was when he let his cell phone text message alert go of 40-50 times a show. It was so fucking annoying

When Reddit told me.

Whenever I started noticing 'hold on!'.

I haven't had a enough. I'll still listen to all the old stuff, or lots of it anyhow.

Though the moment when I realized just how legitimate all the hate was was probably when I was listening to them play Audio from Fred and Humble reacting to a jocktobering. Ant and Jimmy were laughing along the whole time, while Opie got pissy and defensive about criticisms regarding O&A and he would just not let go of them until they were acknowledged. It was pretty annoying. By the end I started liking Fred and Humble more than Opie.

That's how you know you lost, when the thing you make fun of is revealed to be better than you. I had the same thing happen to me years back when I thought guys like the Nostalgia Critic were funny. One day i just realized the movies he was making fun of were better than him. How ironic, when I became an O&A fan I thought "Clearly this is better than that shitty internet-born content since it had to go through more hurdles to become succesful." I figured stuff like Nostalgia Critic was shit because it lived in an environment that was kept all criticism far, far away, which made them unable to improve. Now though I realize the same holds true for opie, the thin-skinned fuck.

Most people have more than two kids?

Earlier on he annoyed me A LOT with his kind of over-the-top surfer bro attitude. It just didn't gel with the attitude of everyone else there.

Now Anthony annoys me more because of this slow onset of megalomania

I gotta go listen to this again

Opie continued to fuck up, and Jim stopped trying

A good summary for the O&J show.

He did kind of the same thing to Bob Kelly recently too

He once said "That's a pretty good summazation" to intern David, and when David corrected him Opie immediately went on a little rant about how David is only good in small doses.

In recent weeks he intro'd the show with that band Incubus, pronounced 'ink-uh-bus' by Opie.

He's a maff guy tho. Dude can almost subtract double digits like no other.

Sorry, new to Reddit :)

Clearly you haven't seen "Lonely", the unfunny fat woman who acts stupid in public

Do you remember the date of this show so I can listen?

I forgot about that... Theres just so many reasons to not like Opie. Its like multiple choice where every answer is correct.

Take Di over opie for radio
