Is Ant doomed?

Anyone have any idea how many subscribers he has?

I have a feeling that Opie is going to pull a Howard, and just stop commenting on Ant. Be above it. He obviously has much more viewers.

Will Ant's show ever really take off? Even moving to Manhattan, I'm not sure how much that would help to actually get a big jump in paying customers. No one really gives a shit about either of their shows anymore (in terms of publicity). He rode the wave of his firing to give momentum to his own show. But now that momentum is gone. And I have a feeling that Bennington is a pipe dream, even if only one day a week appearances. The only way it would work is if Sirius brought Ant back to do a show with Ron (replace Fez basically). Ron is a huge part of that company, and it's a stable check.

What are your thoughts?

Maybe, but I don't have faith in a publicly traded company that won't be upfront about listener numbers.

We're all doomed, when you think about it.

he has 3 salaries to worry about paying. he probably doesn't take a salary right now (that'd be wise anyway). if he has even 10k subs we're talking 840k a year.

i looked up avg office rental costs and it's like 3 - 5k a month. let's go with 5k. and let's assume Rat makes 50k, KtC makes 70k and Stinky makes 40k. a year's rent is going to total 60k. the dev costs of his site and the app were conservatively 60k for the website and 40k for the app. these projections are based off the costs i see at the software company i work at but could be totally off as we don't make entertainment / stream websites. but regardless assuming i am anywhere close the guy is making a decent % after his costs. and that's assuming 10k subs. any less and he's still in the clear.

50k for Rat? what is he doing?

Don't forget his sponsors.

When Ant got fired, the only person that showed up to the protest was Bobo.

When O&A did their live events in 2014 a couple of hundred people showed up.

The total listenership for O&A was likely under 50,000, and if Ant converted even 5% of that into paying subscribers, I'd be shocked. It's not that Ant isn't funny, or that his show isn't good. It's simply that people will steal something when it's widely available for free.

It's the reason nobody has had a successful podcast that wasn't free.

I don't like blacks

Who does?

It's going to be difficult for Anthony long term simply because there are so many other free entertainment options available. Plus, he really doesn't have a platform to continue to grow his audience (not a standup/actor, probably not going to get many more plugs from The Opster, etc.) outside of Red Eye, and they're probably already fans.

Bennington will be dead from diabetes before they could get that show off the ground.

:( but true.

No. The show is really going to take off once it hits NYC

Explain the process of how that happens, please.

You will know the show has finally made it when they get rid of the mandatory subscription to watch TACS and move to a premium content subscription business model while being able to keep afloat primarily on ad revenue.

I am not aware of a single person who's left the Opie and Anthony show and continued to do radio.

Look 'em up on LinkedIn, they're all there, and they've all moved on to careers in something else.

Opie is a douche, but "Opie and A̶n̶t̶h̶o̶n̶y̶ always win in the end".

Howard is one of the most powerful people in the radio business. You really think he never tried to get Opie fired? Opie clearly has some kind of pull behind the scenes, or friends in the right places. There's no other logical explanation for how he's still working.

Hilarious. This is what Ant was talking about when he said some people on Reddit don't have a fucking clue...and others completely understand every bit of it.

Explain it, then. Because no rational calculation has Anthony making TACS into anything more than a very modest success, and that's only through the intervention of a miracle.

"Modest success," is very subjective. Ant might actually like doing it, and his costs are almost certainly not very high, in the scheme of things. Doomed? I don't think so, but worthy of a reevaluation, yes. Free audio is the way to go, and if we want a video option, a couple of bucks a month would suffice.

/u/anthonycumiashow ?

Either the guy wants the 'Empire' that everyone here has been ranting about; the one that's going to topple SiriusXM . . . or . . . he just wants a modest success doing something he likes doing, for a small but loyal viewership (added to which, if he just wants to settle for what he's doing now, then he doesn't need a studio in Manhattan).

He (and you) can't have it both ways.

Your second point is sums up what I was saying.

Who says it has to be more than that? If he's paying his mortgage, who gives a fuck? He could ride this to retirement, have a lot of fun, and not be stressed out by douchebags like Opie and Sam and the Sirius management.

You're working on this assumption that Ant expects his show to get that big. Stop.

Yes, he's doomed. I've been saying for ages that the Long Island location is an excuse. People just don't like Ant, and they don't need him.

If he tries to steal Opie will offer him a chance to do his advice show every day of the week. Jimmy will jump at the chance to talk to more people about his lord and savior, AA.

Don't forget his sponsors.
