Let me just start by saying I'm female so everything I write after this point really doesn't matter... ;) I've pretty much listened to the show religiously for the last 10 years. Like everyone else I didn't want the show to end. What I've come to realize since Anthony started his own show is that I really could care less what Opie does I just hope that Anthony and Jimmy could still do something one day. Through the last 10 years I can't remember EVER listening live or to a worst of where I was in tears because of something Opie said or did. All of the hilarious moments revolve around Anthony, Jimmy or the other guests they have on. After hearing Opie today he basically just confirmed everything that was said yesterday, people have to walk on #greggshells around him because if he doesn't want to hear or talk about something then he whines like a baby until he gets his way or makes the room uncomfortable... This was shown a couple times when Jimmy made a counterpoint and then also proven with the fact that Opie wouldn't take phone calls after Jimmy suggested letting some of the caller on.
Opie stated he didn't even listen to Anthony's show yet was willing to make a million assertions about what Anthony said even though they weren't true. He said he just wants to move on and live his life and that Anthony won't let him which is ironic because it's tough to do that when you haven't spoken in 10 years. He also stated that he's an extremely sentimental guy and that things "cut deep" but it would appear that he is only sentimental when it comes to him... Why would you return an expensive watch you received as a gift for Patrice's benefit if you were sentimental. I do appreciate that Jimmy tried to step in on occasion and point things out but the way Opie spoke to him after just proved the greggshells line. When someone cries on air it usually garners sympathy from me and I start feeling sorry for them however this time it was quite the opposite... I don't feel sorry at all, Opie truly thinks that he could go off on his own and have a great radio show and the truth is he can't. He is not funny, witty, or creative in an sense of the word, he doesn't follow politics or current events and can't compete intellectually on almost any subject people are interested in. He is boring and awkward on air and I hope he's getting the reality check he needs because it really is annoying. Anthony was right saying that you need to have a sense of who you are and what perceptions people have about you... I truly hope that Jimmy will go to Anthony's platform once he goes to the city because Opie is just sucking the funny out of the room day in and day out and I honestly can't stand to listen.
