Another confession thread from a Stern fan.

Wow this has been some fun drama. I hated O&A to the point where I cheered when Anthony was fired. I was so wrong and I'm sorry Anthony. He really is talented and entertaining and I think with Opie being revealed for what he is I wouldn't be surprised if more Stern fans crossover. Just a gut feeling but I believe Opie is why theres a VS mentality between fans. He's such a douche. That video where he's yelling at the Stern fan getting choked up drove me nuts. Whatever. That's all.

The Opie hate unites us all.

We we're born in hate the stern fans merely adopted it

Wouldn't that be the opposite? Many Sterns fans hated O&A for years as if they were the Yankees vs the Red Sox.

And most Opie haters didn't jump on the bandwagon until after Anthony was fired.

Yes except the Stern fans would have more right to the Bane voice. The new Opie haters just adopted the dark.

I don't care who had it first, as long as we all hate ol' jelly tits.

Docking unites you all

You got that right. Most of the fucking time, the dumb radio wars crap was Opie's shitty idea. Ant just went along with Tits' nonsense so he wouldn't get yelled at.

Anthony is funny. The rest of his personality flaws are unimportant to me. Just keep being funny and I'll show up.

Opie is an incredible piece of shit.

Anthony has always been a fan of Stern. The "war" between O&A and Stern was nearly all on Opie. Ant was even on Stern way back in the day before he joined Opie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXbNYs9rHk8

Holy shit. MIND-BLOWN. Haha now I can justify my past hate. Its like I was subconsciously waiting for the split before I can officially be a fan. Win-Win.

honestly most of us are former Howard fans who got driven away after he started getting older and more out of touch. Hang around, you might fit in around here.

Haha. Stern's hypocrisy is annoying but at least he can be entertaining to listen to and is a good interviewer.

Even his interviews lately have been kinda blah and ass kissy, but it's the circle of life. You get old and you lose a step or two. It happens to all entertainers and to me it doesn't diminish the great work Stern has done in the past. Its like dealing with the phases in death: denial and anger come before acceptance.

at least he wasn't talking about the flu with Robert Downey jr

That Ethan Hawke interview. Bleck. The guy has been part of some great or at least interesting movies. And we'll talk about the flu.

That's the bit. Dish out, whine when it gets turned on him.

I always enjoyed Stern. If you go on Youtube you can find some hilarious bits. I will say I laughed the hardest when they would rip on him for being a judge on AGT. Its probably my only gripe with Stern. Him doing that show.

Yeah I don't know why you either have to be a stern fan or an OnA fan. I've always been a fan of both and never really understood the divide. Oh well, at least we got double the content.

This is when I really started to get turned off by Howard. As a fan, I wanted him 5 days a week. He starts doing 3 days some week but then starts putting time and effort towards judging a fucking tv show? That was really lame for us fans who listened for years and subbed to Sirius out of the gate. He said he would do some Fridays...I think I remember one Friday where they were on the air.

I really pictured satellite being more fun....random shows on Saturday nights.....with his own channel I pictured it being more loose. Instead we got less Stern than ever. Somehow 10 year old tapes became labeled as "new programming". Ugh.

Howard has said numerous times that he thinks Anthony is incredibly talented and that Opie is the talentless one. Never thought I'd agree with Howard on anything.

I don't know about that, but I've heard Andrew Dice say something similar where Ant is the funny one and Opie is a phone op.

Dice was the one that said that Opie is the most insecure man he's ever met in his life. I think that is core of why he's so hateable.

Link to Howard saying that about Ant?

Wanna fuck?

Followed Stern in the late-80s up 'til Jackie left...really miss the Jackie/Billy West years. Lost interest after that. Started listening to O&A in 2007...I IMMEDIATELY despised this douchey "Opie" character, but Ant & Jimmy cracked me up. I knew what O&A looked like, but didn't know who was who. I'm ashamed to admit that I ASSUMED the ignorant sounding Opie was the greasy WOP looking member, and the funny educated guy was the Norther European looking one. Imagine my consternation when I figured out the truth. Forgive me Ant.

Well we just heard Jackie admit on TACS somewhat recently that while he worked for Stern he may have been allowed to fire off a few lines here and there, but he was expected to write his top shelf material down on notes and hand them to Howard so he could be the funny one.

It's no surprise that Howard would get less funny without talent like that writing for him.

When I was younger I kinda hated Howard because it was a retarded tribalistic thing, like sports fan rivalry shit. I got older as I listened to O&A, and after Ant got fired I listened to a lot of old Howard on Youtube.

Holy shit.

The fact is, the "show rivalry" is a stupid thing to get upset about. There's funny Stern and funny O&A.

And Opie is, and always has been, a cunt. Anthony as a guest on Howard would be the funniest possible thing.

So when Anthony was fired you laughed and found it hilarious, but then subscribed to him and now find him highly talented?

Oh I was an asshole when he was fired. I trolled fans on youtube calling them racist for liking Ant. I even called Serius thanking them. It was totally fucked. But sure enough, while typing comments on their bits on youtube, I began to listen and enjoy. It was when Louis CK and the boys did a review on GAP that I became a good egg.

You called Sirius to thank them for firing Anthony? What the fuck? None of us care enough about Stern or any of the shows we attack to do that bullshit.

wanna fuck?

lol Joe Derosa?

Did anyone call TBS after the Pete Holmes show got canceled and say "Thank you for sacking that holocaust denying piece of shit"? Maybe that's a bad example because it was before all the bullshit with Joey happened. I guess a better analogy would be to call after each episode of Better Call Saul that he's not in and telling AMC that you're grateful they left him out of the episode.

spot on

"How dare you." - Louis CK when Paul O compares his cinematography to Kubrick's, one of the deepest laughs I've ever gotten from an O&A show. There was just something about a grown man saying those words to another grown man. One of the best clips ever.

Fortunately, there's plenty of good material out there. Enjoy it before it gets taken down. A few of my favorite videos are gone now.

You're a faggot for getting this emotionally involved in "radio wars"

wooo pass the dicks

This is awesome. But isn't it crazy? I actually do like/respect Howard Stern more than Opie at the moment. Never thought I would say such a thing.

Don't be confused OP, Stern is still a filthy cunt.

well, you're very possibly right that opie may have been the great divide between fans all along. but, then again, him and stern are so similar in their narcissism. that's why neither of them could exist in a world where there was any cohabitation.

until they're both old and useless, that is.

Both McTits and Howard are incredibly lazy fucks.

Funny how much O&A fans hate Stern just because Opie did

I never hated stern I just didn't find his show to be as funny.

good for you, you know that a majority of the fanbase is not like that

Nope. I hate Stern because hes a jewish grandmother with a yes man cackling hole. Hes shit without Jackie writing him lines.

Disagree. Artie years provided some all-star moments for the show.

you're insulting stern and praising jackie, who is the biggest hack in comedy

Never hated Stern, actually liked his show when he had Gilbert or Norm on. Artie was great too... I just prefer O&A.

I know a lot of O&A fans love Norm & dislike Howard, but if they've avoided Norm vs Howard interviews, they've been missing the f oot.

I can see why. What I've noticed in the short time I've been listening is how well comedians did there. The atmosphere was way more relaxing with O&A so stories and bits came out more natural and didn't feel like interviews.

I enjoy both but i remember when i first came here any mention of stern was blasphemy
