If only Patrice was still around, I'd love to have his take on all this bullshit.

Patrice never had a problem with Opie far as I could tell. Back then lots of people didn't. There were haters, but it didn't matter that much because the show was still great. He seemed like a loyal guy, but at the same time he was never a phony so I wonder if he'd call Opie on his bullshit. Well he'd probably call Ant out too.

By now, Patrice would have his own show on FX, Comedy Central, or Showtime while also playing reoccurring characters on Louie, Legit, Inside Amy, etc. He would have stopped coming around just like everyone else. The show would still be shit. If Anthony remained, half the show would be him still bitching about Ferguson. And, we'd still be running an apology clock.

People forget that the show was in decline for a long time. Anthony's departure was just the final decent into mediocrity.

But at least we still would have had Jocktober.

Nice try with the h- ...... yeah you're right

Of course he'd call Opie on his bullshit.

I honestly don't think the show would have ended if Patrice was alive. Ant was able to actually be funny about his racism back then and never would have spiraled out of control.

Yes after his death the reality check AKA Patrice, he did go into a dark place

This. Patrice was the perfect racial foil for Anthony. The balance of their two personalities made for genuine "honest discussions about race," not one-sided ranting dominated by Ant. All I could think of anytime I heard him talk about Trayevon/Zimmerman was "Jesus, they really needed Patrice for this."

He knew opie was a cornball. I don't think he let opie speak enough to realize what a piece of shit he actually is. One of the two times opie and patrice hung out was a free movie screening. Patrice would have gone to a free screening of tropic thunder with anyone, even that punk bitch Danny.

That can be said about so many things going on these days

No he's dead!

Ya kiddin'?

...Haew did it haeppen?

I would like to think if Patrice was alive he would have done a Louie like show on FX (He was in talks with them in his last months) and it would have been huge. I don't think he would be going on O and A as much like Louie.

But to hear his take would have been interesting. But I don't think he would have been as deeply involved in the show as he was. So he might not have known as much.

I think Patrice would sit back and watch the fallout.... He wouldn't need to call out Opie... He would watch him eat it, and laugh just like how he used to love it when his comedian friends bombed on stage

Would have loved to get Patrice's take on everything that has gone down and I know he was one of the most loyal guys but honestly with the way his career was starting to take off, he would probably be at the level of guys like Bill Burr and Louie CK who used to do the show all the time and now come around a few times a year and hang for an hour. I don't think Patrice would be as tied up in all of it. I could be wrong though - he had a GREAT way of being able to call O&A on thier shit and maybe he could have prevented some of the nonsense.

He would never be on Burr or Louis' level I don't think. You can't water down Patrice. He said he never believed he would be mega rich and he was confident as fuck, so he obviously meant he would offend too many people and step on too many toes to run PR for himself. That and he knew he was unhealthy.
