The other night I went and saw Dave Chappelle. Honestly, it was one of the funniest hours of stand up I've ever seen. My face hurt from laughing so much. He's honestly a living legend and I'm so glad he's regularly doing stand up again. Better than anything I ever saw from Louis CK, Bill Burr, Jim Norton (obviously), and I'd say it's right on par with what I saw from Patrice's specials. His stand up did highlight something though about the difference between men and women comedians and that was all thanks to his opener.

His opener...a female comic from LA. She had that vocal fry where she carries out her wooooooords making her voices sound gravelly at the end of each word. She also had this deadpan delivery like Aubrey Plaza on Parks and Recreation. She only did around 10-15 minutes, but it was so terrible. Just "so I'm totally a slut..." and "my vagina...." and "I kind of hate everyone..." and "so my mom says..." types of jokes. It was hack jokes, completely unoriginal material, the "alt-comic" disaffected attitude and voice, and most of all it just wasn't funny. It was the perfect representation LA comics and women comics all wrapped up in one.

My point is, is that women have no business being in comedy.

Did she have any jokes about getting her period? Those are always great.

"dudes get super upset" sounds like somebody who has just had it and is dying to feel the satisfaction of hitting back. Regardless of how dumb or hypocritical it makes them look.
