Opie caught lying again
5 2015-03-28 by [deleted]
Listening to the Joe Rogan appearances on O+A
The guys are talking about poker. Opie obviously knows nothing about poker but makes up a lie to try to fit in. The lie doesn't even make sense and 3 people call him out on it.

I can't remember when it was, but add "having seen the original pink panther" to the list of lies. He was talking about Steve Martin calling out Jimmy for bashing him and said Martin ruined a legendary scene - Turburger, which was shown constantly on commercials for the remake.

Opie wants to make stalker patti believe shes on "dope" from a fake thc strip. Opie knows all the hip lingo.

He was talking about pulling an asshole move among pros.
Which would be funny if he ever played with pros, but he never talked poker before.
Even when Ant was on his poker kick, he never really discussed it.
All of a sudden the fuck feels like he needs to belong.
He heard "offsuit" from Ant and it sounded really inside, so he just had to cornhole it in there. Ya know, so he can be down with the boys.
Something else unrelated annoyed me. Ari cracked a shit joke, and Opie had to let everyone know that he is killing today. It is within the first few seconds of the timestamp, listen to it, it made me want to quit using drugs.

Honestly, I don't think he's lying. He is right about ruining the atmosphere of the game when going all in. When people go all in it raises the stake of the game and ends it super early. Even if the dumb dumb busts, you still have to take a fold or go hard and go all in.
He had a good point, don't see the lie. Especially when its online.
12 wifflebb 2015-03-28
This is not a good point. If you're playing to actually make money, there is nothing better for a game of poker than this kind of player.
0 RatherPleasent 2015-03-28
Whenever I play poker, mostly in the past in digital form and a few times in my life, I like to play it for the game itself. People that go all in make the game either go too fast, or drag on because everyone folds.
I personally don't like playing against people who continually go all in.
Also, in the video Opie said he just played online for fun, which I think is for free.

Then you must not like making money then lol

I play alot online, people would not leave. It's free money

I don't see how it's free money, especially when there's players still yet to call.
5 tobasco26 2015-03-28
It's free money because your opponent is putting in all his money with any two cards. Meanwhile, you get to look at your hand and decide. Basically, I would call down an opponent making this move with a huge range of hands (77+, A 10 o+)
Yes, you can lose to the opponent constantly going all in or someone acting behind, but this would be a dream scenario for any competent poker player. It's not 100% free money or entirely risk free, but OP knows what he is talking about.
6 Protential 2015-03-28
Depending on where we are at on the table, can get it in farrrr wider than that.
-7 RatherPleasent 2015-03-28
I don't know about that man, I disagree personally. I played poker a lot in Red Dead Redemption and the poker games become so retarded when people went all in, and retarded players make the game go too fast without letting cards get put down on the table.
I usually left games when people went all in, because I would either bust, fold over and over (isn't fun), or the game would end in five minutes.
People that go all in drain me of my energy.
9 chillax_bro_im_jk 2015-03-28
If he was playing for fake money then I can see how people would leave.
I was under the assumption he was talking about real money. No way would anyone leave if it were for real money.
12 2600forlife 2015-03-28
Not only would nobody with any sense leave, but pretty soon there would be a 10+ person waiting list to get seated.
11 wifflebb 2015-03-28
Can't imagine why this would be down voted. If you're playing for real money, you're praying for a dope like Opie to go all in for no reason with a shitty hand. If it's play money, and it's purely for fun, I guess I can see why it would be annoying. But in real poker, if you have any idea what you're doing, that's a gift.
-6 RatherPleasent 2015-03-28
I would. You would either go all in, lose and lose, or continually fold. Each time losing more and more money. Even when you have a good hand, the cards on the table can be revealed and you lose. Playing with someone who goes all in continually is toxic.
5 chillax_bro_im_jk 2015-03-28
Nah you wait until you have good cards. More likely than not, you would win if he's playing any two. Even if you did happen to get unlucky and lose with the better starting hand, you could buy back in and do it again. You will make money in the long run
-14 PepsiColaRapist 2015-03-28
If he goes all in that means you would have to too or you have to fold. I like how you make it sound like its no big deal to lose all your money in one hand... dude just admit it your stupid ass post backfired and instead of you embarrassing opie you embarrassed yourself... just stop bro.
5 chillax_bro_im_jk 2015-03-28
Bro you wouldnt be losing all your money, only the money you buy in with. No one buys in with their entire bankroll at once, that's just irresponsible. Rule of thumb is you only buy in 5% of your entire bankroll
1 PepsiColaRapist 2015-03-28
That is literally what ALL IN means.
I just saw your reply so sorry for the late reply but you dont know what your talking about.. take a second to look at all the replies and parent comments the whole debate is weather or not it sucks to play with someone who goes ALL IN right at the begging everytime.. so yes if you lost you would lose all your money thats what ALL IN means...
2 chillax_bro_im_jk 2015-03-28
No its not

1 PepsiColaRapist 2015-03-28
if you dont even know what all in means than obviously you dont know shit about poker... all in means if you lose you lose all your fucking money.. holy shit you guys are retarded.
2 BeatDownSnitches 2015-03-28

"Even if the dumb dumb busts, you still have to take a fold or go hard and go all in." what are you talking about?
-2 RatherPleasent 2015-03-28
When the person goes all in, they can either bust because someone else checked them and had good cards, but you as a player must fold regardless (and thats if they don't win), or you are the guy who calls the check and run the risk of busting. Most people don't check, they just fold.
3 BeatDownSnitches 2015-03-28
"check"- an option only available if there are no bets made in front of you and you already posted the big blind and whatever antes are in play. what you mean to say is call. and you dont have to fold, say, if it goes (villian 1-fish) all in, (villian 2) call, (hero-you) you have the option to either fold or you can call as well. so you either bust if they both have you covered or you triple up. I agree though if its for play money than yea im not playing with someone who just shoves blind every hand. i just dont get what you meant by you still having to "take a fold or go all in after dumb dumb busts"
1 RatherPleasent 2015-03-28
My bad, what I said doesn't make sense. I think I meant to say, "take a fold or go all in until dumb dumb busts out of the game."

'That's my new thing man'
is it

ME: I like to try and stay up to date. I like online poker, and Tiger Woods golf for the PSP.
-1 paulus_ 2015-03-28
Let's just ignore how Opie's comment about online poker brought about an actual discussion. Wait isn't that what he's supposed to do?
