Clarkson fired by the BBC

Am a Brit, not a big fan of the show but will watch it if there's nothing else on. And can see it's appeal - cars, stunts, men as boys etc. And if the boss wants a steak dinner at the end of filming, the boss should get a steak. But you can't go around smacking underlings in this day and age, so he probably deserved to go. The interesting thing though is his co-host's continuing support and loyalty. Just today, James May said words to the effect of "the 3 of us are a team, a package. Where one of us goes, the other two follow." A rare thing these days. And something to be respected.

He was fired by Lamar? FAWK I didn't know he worked for him I shoulda asked him about sum cars or sumthin.

No, Chip I think your confused.

tss chip's confused what?

No Chip. YOU are confused. BBC is the British Broadcasting Corporation.

I like Top Gear and I really respect James May and Hammond's decision alot, but Clarkson 100 percent deserved to get fired. You can't just punch someone because they didn't have your fucking dinner ready and get away with it, it doesn't matter who you are. It's sad to see the end of the show, but Clarkson shouldn't have been such a fucking cunt in the first place.

He didn't have to be fired. Just call out for his cunty behavior and punished somehow.

Not every punishment MUST be a firing...

Yep assaulting an employee doesn't create any hostility in a work environment at all. Not to mention he had multiple warnings for being a cunt. Sorry but giving someone slaps on the wrist while they continue to be a cunt and bully employees doesn't change anything. If you can't work without doing this behavior, you shouldn't be there.

If you went and hit one of your coworkers for not having your dinner ready, you'd be shitcanned ASAP, as anyone would be. Just because he's a celebrity doesn't give him the right to do that.

Plus he was already on thin ice for the nigger nursery rhyme, which was bullshit cause he barely even mumbled it (and it was also kinda funny imo), but still it was pretty obvious that BBC was sick of him and this was the last straw.

Ahh see I didn't know he had multiple warnings. My point still stands but he was way past the point of return.

Assaulting your coworker MUST result in a firing. It's the only rational response.

Yeah, nah, if you punch someone who works for you in the face, you should lose your job.

A fucking punch from a 70 year old cunt can't hurt more than a needle poking your skin. Such a waste of talent because of pussies.

Equivalent here is opie and Jim quitting after ant got fired. Would have kept listening if they had morals.

I agree it's rare to stand up for someone like that. Opie and Jim didn't have to quit. That just means I won't listen. The show is irrelevant without clarkson, like opie and Jim are irrelevant without anthony.

I know it isn't the same situation, but it's nice to see loyalty like this. Even though they are probably in a much better position than O&J were, it's still nice that despite what Clarkson did they never stopped supporting him.

"the 3 of us are a team, a package."

This was The Opie and Anthony show. Without one of them, it jus doesn't work no matter how many comedians sit in that empty chair now.

Well I bet if a certain someone were to leave instead of Anthony the show would find a way to still be entertaining.

It's pretty close, actually. Their contracts are running out this year and May and Hammond have indicated they won't renew without Clarkson. The BBC isn't firing Clarkson either, they just won't renew his contract for the next season.

Opie and Jim had the same option available to them in October.

yo whats wrong with the comedians we got??

dan soder, jim florentine

They joke pretty good!

The biggest difference is that these guys have tonnes of options. They won't lose a cent, they can go anywhere and keep doing a show together. O&A didn't have that.

The show jumped the shark a few years ago... Who gives a turkey.

Language!

glad some one spoke up. wow.

It's not what you do, it's what you say.

Definitely showed much more sincerity for his partner getting fired.

I really thought he'd pull through. Cannot believe they actually fired him. That show was internationally beloved an even that doesn't mean fuck all anymore.

If it was anything other than a physical attack he probably wouldn't have been fired.

Every time someone tries to tie this to "the 2 friends are loyal and quit along with him", remember this is real Fuck you Money

Jeremy Clarkson has a £2million sprawling estate near Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, which is his main residence

Oh come on!

When I lived in England, I lived quite close to Chipping Norton, it is a very nice town.

completely missed that one...

this is something they would 100% talk about on the show every time. if they don't it will be so obvious they are avoiding it because that show is a bigger operation overall than O&A was, and there was no excuse for them to not have handled ant's situation the way those guys did.

Very, very easy to say when you are on TV and you happen to be huge, huge global stars. If Opie and Jim quit, they would all be unemployed. Where would they go? You really think a Podcast can support all three of their lives?

So wait, Opie was lying when he kept telling us about his fuck you money? How he didn't need to be there? And how come October he was leaving Sirius to start a podcast and the guys could come with him if they wanted but he definitely wouldn't be there?

Hey, that $7 million apartment to please your gold digging wife isn't gonna pay for itself.

That's why it's hard to do for them. And I understand but the show can't go on without ant. Just like it can't go on without clarkson. At least he had true friends that didn't throw him under the bus.

Yes, I do. If the three of them started up a video podcast similar to what Ant is doing and got all of the friends of the show involved it could have been successful.

Hey now.... Opie was on TBS....................................................

[deleted]

He'll come back, too. He'll make a statement about how inappropriate he acted and how the BBC made the right decision. He'll spend some time on the "beach," go to rehab or some equivalant, then be reinstated with May and Hammond. Dude has been off the rails since his mom died and assaulting someone you've worked with for that long because of food is booze/coke behavior.
To whomever called me a SJW for saying hitting someone at work would get anyone fired, is Clarkson an SJW because he filed the report on his own behavior with the BBC?

low middlebrow pap for proles, get tossed m8

It's weird that they would have such loyalty to an asshole, now that I'm just learning what this whole thing is about. He punched some fucker in the face for not having dinner ready? I feel about the two who are leaving the same way I would if Opie was fired and Ant/Jim left to be there also instead of just continuing and being even better without the dead weight.

Am I the only one who thinks what Clarkson did was way worse than what Anthony did?

And yet, his co-hosts publicly stood up for him, defended him punching an employee (and lost their jobs with him).

On the other hand, we have Opie and Jim - who avoid saying TACS more than once per month, so as to prove they don't agree with what Anthony said on twitter.

We live in bizarro world.

We live in a society where words speak louder than actions. Punching a boss is seen through the tint of rebelling against the corporate machine, it's almost laddish and endearing because it's typical Clarkson. Using racist language, in particular against blacks, is seen as horrific, evil, outdated behavior that has to be locked down and quarantined to shield the rest of society. It's a strange place to be that doesn't solve anything and just breeds more resentment from people who have opinions that deviate from what is politically correct.

Honestly was my favorite show, those three guys were hilarious together. I really hope they get picked up by a Netflix or something.

Clarkson definitely should have been fired, and the the other two following him out isn't the same because it's pretty much certain that they will get another show (not to mention they have far more money than O,A & J combined). If Opie and Jim left and went with Anthony, nothing was guaranteed.

James May's a boring smug cunt
