That is a good representation of the show overall. Two guys just talking and being funny, but theres a third guy that insists it not be funny and be about him.
It was fine to make jokes on the Patrice Memorial show
It was fine to make fun of the Jim Jones tapes
It was fine to make jokes to Lady Di about her husband cheating on her with a train
It was even fine to play Hitler speeches over a concentration camp survivor while he was speaking
But Anthony making jokes while Opie is on an hour and a half long rant about a "fake" video? Anthony better check himself before he wrecks himself, a 50 year old man screaming like a toddler because he's been brutally cucked is about as real as any moment can get.
Dave Attell made a great joke about Patrice O'Neal being in a coffin and it ironically enough killed. Opie always had that double standard. Everybody was so afraid around him, so afraid to get on the bad side of "The Psycho." I think that is a huge reason why the 50 Nopie shows are so enjoyable. There is such a removal of tension, this black cloud of Leave It Alone, that hung over the heads of everybody there.
Even Lewis Black noted it. Opie's presence is like a heavy weight on your chest. Opie literally sucks the air out of the room.
"This show is so much better without Opie! I feel like I can breath!"-Lewis Black
"This show is so much better without Opie! I feel like I can breath!"-Lewis Black
Before someone pops in with "He was clearly fucking around!", he wasn't. Opie held a serious grudge against Lewis because when they first came back on XM (on a $2 premium channel) in 2004, Lewis did a phoner to promote his book, yet he was in studio with Howard (who was still on FM). Opie was very public about his displeasure with that, and would passively aggressively say stuff like "Lewis! Great to have you here in studio...live in person." when he did come in studio later.
I always felt bad for the comics in studio when Opie would start to go off on Howard. At least Ant had some awareness that they weren't that into it, Opie would just plow through every single joke trying to have a "real moment".
And when finally one of the comics mentions how they have no beef with Howard the inevitable "We honestly don't care what you do with Stern" lie rears is ugly head. Opie gets personally offended if an A-list celebrity doesn't remember them, he qualifies every name by whether they're a "friend of the show" or whether they "got too big for us".
It's ironic actually because I guarantee a lot of the reason some people never came back to the show was Opie, there's something deeply disconcerting about a 50 year old man who goes on meandering, rage-fuelled rants about someone they're consumed by jealousy for.
He's a stupid, sad little man and I only wish he had the mental faculties necessary to have a breakdown.
Before Howard Stern became a parody of himself post-Artie downward spiral and exit from the show, they guy was a genuine big shot who could ruin a career. There was no need to force a Howard bashing discussion unless the guy was a veteran already in their camp.
Classic douchebag behavior where you sure can dish it out, but god forbid you take any kind of abuse for the sake of fun. Everyone knows one of these guys.
This is why I hate him. Anthony's name was dragged through the mud with his ex and with that Dominic Barbara shit, and fucking noodletits loses it over a one liner. This is absolutely the main reason that I can't stand that strawhaired nincompoop.
The thing I like about this is, I don't know if there was a sex tape or not, but Opie had Bam Margera on the phone one time and one time only and there was some cover story as to why he'd do a phoner but it was all to get confirmation that he did not have sex with Lynsi.
He didn't deny it, to my reasoning because he did have sex with her at least before she was with Opie and possibly afterwards and maybe with his friends, too. All he could do was say something like,
"I drink, I smoke dope, I do drugs every now and again, I'm on a billion painkillers from all of my skateboarding accidents and I party all the time. My life's pretty much a blur. I don't recall having sex with Lynsi." All he could say was he didn't remember it and that is only because he's such a booze, drug and pill addled party animal that he barely recalls anything. It was the weakest "denial" ever and he hasn't done the show since.
I like how Opie angrily tells Ant to stop trying to be funny during his "real moment" and that he doesn't try to make jokes when Ant's ranting about something... as if he was too considerate to do it. Not because he's a fuckin' dunce and wouldn't be able to come up with anything?
This dummy. If someone said they had sex with my woman and It was clearly false I would ironically "leave it alone". If someone told me I was a space alien I wouldn't even dignify it with a response. Instead old Pillow-bosoms had to scream and yell like the intellectual cripple he is. He's given more credence to the rumors by acting like a child.
I listened to this over a year ago and I can't bring myself to listen to it again. It's just chilling listening to these two funny people being forced to be the bitches of a self-obsessed, unintelligent woman-child.
He'd being going on for an hour about the same thing. Ant knew it had to be awful to listen to, and would try to chime in with something actually entertaining from time to time.

"The mammary doth protest too much, methinks." If it was groundless it would be a 5 minute segment. Instead it was a 90 minute baby-boy hissy fit.
Lynsi had sex with Bam and some other people that embarrass Opie. The only question is if it happened when they were a couple.
4 dankfranklin 2015-03-23

But Opie also sounds like a whiny baby.
