Jerry tried to tell him that at least part the problem was Opie per se in his first call. Opie's exact response was "pfft. Yeah right." And then went on to blame it on stalker-like obsession. I don't think he believes that either, it's just the stance he takes as sort of a fuck you to people, insinuating possible homosexuality or some twisted form of star fucking.
Ant pushes this narrative too. I understand he's just trying to keep it civil with Shelly, but even Ant will respond to Opie hate by saying the fans are just upset that Opie continued without him.
He chooses to make himself believe it's not happening. And he tells himself that these "few" (almost all) people that are and have turned on him, are just "haters" and unimportant to his brilliant mission. Which is apparently him being the hole beside his frustrated, more money but less happy, sidekick, Lil Jimmy. He is self absorbed and delusional to a mental illness level.
I want him to FEEEEL it. But I'm pretty sure that will never happen. He doesn't have the human qualities it takes to feel others pain or emotions. He's a fucking cockroach.
He does have an amazing ability to tell himself, and the listeners, that "the haters" are just a small unimportant group of people, and that he, is above all else, beloved. I wish Fezzie had an eighth of that attitude. I wish Opie only humiliation and complete obscurity.
I wonder this myself. I've looked at his Facebook comments and a majority of them are positive. Its so fucking weird to see all the reddit hate and then see all his Facebook love. Not sure what show those morons are listening to.
I actually see quite a bit of hate on Youtube, Facebook, articles about O&A on other websites, etc. I don't read his twitter, but the times I've looked at it, there's been some pretty fucked up comments to him. BUT, I totally hear what you're saying about the Opie "fans" I don't get it AT ALL. What in the world, seriously, is there to LIKE about him?? He is in every way, a completely hateable human being. NO redeeming qualities. The comments these "fans" make always sound very contrived. Too happy, too much praise, too fucking phony.
