I want to listen to the best years of O&A. When should I start?

I started listening in 2011 everyday until the day Ant got shit on. Everyone keeps talking about the golden years but I haven't heard it defined as 'this to this'. I tried listening from the beginning but I just can't. Jimmys fake hate is so annoying it makes it hard to listen to.

ME: No time like the present brotherman. Subs are up and management loves the direction of the show

ME: THIS GUY GETS IT!

lol did you guys see that video that the opester tweeted where he caught some candid video of that fat woman spilling her pumpkin spice latte? she was all like "OH NO MY PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE OH NO PUMPKIN SPICE I LOVE PUMPKIN SPICE SO MUCH" and she was like trying to scoop it back into the cup because she was just so distraught that she lost her coffee and everybody was all like "whaaaaat" and opie was all like "whoa i've got to take a video of this" and it went up on youtube?

shit was viral as fuck. that guy's still got it.

2009 (post grapes fight) - 2011 (pre dead Patrice) some of 2008 was great aswell

The golden years were 2009-2012. The FM years had their moments because of the top heavy comedians on, intern david, etc, but it was crappy radio until they got to xm that day.

2009-2012 were great because they realized they weren't going anywhere so they were resigned to just doing a radio show. Chip was great as ever, Opie talked very little since he was just coasting.

At some point Ant got really bad. I think it was after a breakup. He was audibly hungover every day, had this monotone voice, obsessed over the black community, just put no effort in. And when trayvon happened, forget about it.

I don't super enjoy the show now but at least it doesn't dwell on black culture for 2 hours of the show.

I'm listening to the 2005 shows uploaded by /u/doublegunns and it's bizarre to actually hear Ant seem to be understanding of the lower class and in particular blacks. It felt like i was in bizarro world, though his feelings seemed to change a little after hurricane Katrina.

I started listening to the show late-2008ish, and its funny because at the time people (even on the show) were talking about how much better the show was before that point. I definitely think 2009-2011 was great, because it became less of a "shock jock" show and more of the hangout (although there was a slump toward the re-signing in 2010 where every show was just depressing and boring).

I might even push it back to 2005/2006, especially when they started bringing Patrice and Burr on regularly. They got a little schlocky in 2008, but it was still pretty fun.

This. The highs aren't as high as they once were, but on the other hand I don't find myself reaching to change the channel to turn off the same reactionary rant for the tenth day in a row.

Start July 2014

Patrice, Colin quinn, burr collections

I like the Louis CK audio personally.

Agreed. They're the most entertaining of all the major guests. In part because he didn't do hundreds of them and in part because he's really interesting.

Try the WNEW stuff.

I agree, it's worth trying the WNEW years since that's what made them. It wasn't all stunts with naked girls. They both seemed to really enjoy doing the show and had great interactions with their fans. Look for the stuff with Spaz.

you rang?

The earliest really good shows were in late 2005/early 2006 when Patrice/Burr filled in all the time.

Start at early 2006, go until they really start sucking on FM in 2008, pick up again in mid 2009 after they get fired.

I think a lot of the 2009 stuff with intern david was hilarious.

I like the XM era of the show best. It just really seemed to define a lot of what made the show great and it was also when guys like Patrice and Otto were still alive. They were still fun to listen to though Patrice's death really took a toll on the show gradually. 2013 and 2014 is when I started to really get sick of the show so there you go. I even like some of the older WNEW stuff they did too but mainly when Jimmy jumped on board.

Im first week in of january 2011 and i havnt laughed this much since artie and gilbert hijacked stern

ME: anytime after July 4th of last year, management has nothing but praise.

2006-7 on

listen to the old wnew but the real gold is the early days of XM.... the first 2-3 years that they were back on XM is absolute radio gold. Amazing bits, great guests, just loud, open and honest radio... good stuf.... Plus the fact that back when they first came on XM they had no sponsors, so out of a 4 hour show, there was maybe 20 mins of commercial haha they were rockin

You have 4 solid years of content between October 4, 2004 to November 4th 2008.

Not to mention bonus Saturday Night Virus stuff. Goddamn what amazing era of radio.

2006, and 2007 to some extent.

2006-2009 Ant impersonating Tony Danza to Tony's fans is what got me hooked on the show.

Phillips phile was the peak.

Yeah I've wondered about this too. I be been listening to jocktober, lady di, intern, Patrice, louis ck playlists. Opie and Anthony playlists on YouTube provide backstory and hours of the greatest radio ever produced.

YMMV, but I like 2004 until 2008. Basically the four years between their debut on satellite radio and the Condoleeza Rice incident.

Things weren't the same after they got suspended; it took the wind out of their sails.

Everyones gonna say something different, but 2007-2009 is really where it was at. Kinda like the Artie Years for stern.
