Do Lil Jimmy and Ant know how much people dislike Opie?
7 2015-03-17 by Bondoo7oo
I don't think I've ever read someone on here not liking Ant or Jim. But it seems most people dislike Opie, and rightfully so. Do you think the three of them know this?

Of course they know.

The real question is, does Ant and Jim hate Opie as much as us?

They're too smart not to. The question is, why didn't Jim jump ship?

No prospects. Stand-up stagnation. Steady paycheck.
As much as people hate it, it was a smart financial decision on his part.

Me: THIS guy gets it!!

I remember when people used to call that "selling out"... Easy for me to say though, I didn't stand to lose millions.

"I didn't 'sell-out' son, I bought it"

I understand Jimmy not jumping ship. But at the same time he should have taken a creative risk and gone on to do something with Ant. Jimmy always jokes that he rides coattails. This would be the perfect opportunity to prove he can do something on his own. Plus, we know how good Ant and Jim are together.

Maybe Jim knew that Op needed him more to succeed than Ant did. I use succeed lightly. Without Jim, Op's done and he might have known that. Ant had already proven he could be successful on his own by the time their contract renewal came up last October. Just a thought.

That's a good point. People say that Jimmy was being disloyal to Ant by staying, but Jim probably feels like he owes Opie just as much for his O&A gig and doesn't want Opie to be out of work. If I were him, I'd consider my debt paid after years of trampled conversation, banal pontification, and hacky fratboy jokes by Opie, but that's just me.

Ant having a studio in the city will tell a lot when Jim's contract is up again.

Even ignoring the fans, almost everybody that's ever worked with them or knows them behind the scenes has issues with Opie. I think they've noticed before the Ant firing that people tend not to like the Opester as a person and not just because of the shock jockery stuff.

after awhile, you really would expect a thinking person to consider if they are just a dick that turns everyone against them.

If you met an asshole today, you probably met an asshole. If everyone you met today was an asshole, you probably are an asshole.

At this point, I'd welcome some 'shock jockery'. Anything would be better than this banal, coffee klatch get-together. If I wanted something safe and inoffensive, I'd listen to NPR. "Fresh Air" is more edgy and entertaining than this show!

I wish the show had ended so we could hear the stories and know the true depths of Opie's awfulness.

I too, am waiting for that tell all. That day will come. I swear it.

I think we all should read the latest "OpieRadio-Funny Mofos Daily", check out a sunset picture and practice our rehearsed canned laugh. That's turn that frown upside down.

Glorious effort with the vitriol, though.

I like Jimmy, but don't think he should have been a permanent member.
-5 MacsDuster 2015-03-17
Do they know about the subsection of socially awkward losers with nothing better to do than to hate on Opie? Probably not.
11 kgt5003 2015-03-17
It's not just fans. Andrew Dice Clay years ago said Opie is impossible to get along with because of being a douche, old PD's have said Opie was the problem because of his ego, old interns have said Opie is an asshole, ex-employees have said Opie is insufferable. None of these people came out bashing Anthony or Jimmy. It is always Opie. That isn't supernatural. The issue is that Opie is really a scumbag.
5 Bondoo7oo 2015-03-17
You don't feel/read a disproportionate amount of Opie criticism? Of course everyone has critics, but the amount of expressed dislike for Opie is a multiple of that of Jim or Ant.
3 Lilcumia 2015-03-17
Ant has addressed the Opie hate on his show.
