I don't think they'd fold. Subscriber growth is still pretty good because of car sales (this is independent of Howard). Howard leaving will reduce their operating cost by millions. There's a lot of people who just like talk radio, so they'll stick around and listen to someone else. They still haven't been killed by the Internet like people were predicting around 2007. If they do start to lose, I think they'll become more of a content company, and less of a medium company. They could start selling individual shows on different platforms/services.

I don't know how that is possible. There is no way that Howard listeners would represent that much of their subscriber base. I would guess the majority of subscribers do not care what happens with Howard, O&A/J, or R&F. They just listen to their coffee house music and roll along in their Lexus to brunch.

Why? I paid for Sirius for good talk radio. Stuff that doesn't exist on terrestrial anymore. Mostly O&A, but listened to Howard now and then, and really enjoyed the archives.

Then Ant was fired and O&J was terrible. Howard is barely ever live, and when he is, it is pretty bad too. So what do I have left? Howard archives? R&F were on when I am never in the car and I wasn't going to pay Sirius more to listen to the same content on my phone as well as a radio.

Sure I listened to music on Sirius and occasionally Raw Dog or live sports on a longer road trip, but I can stream that stuff and I have an extensive music collection already. The value in the sub for me was gone after Ant left.

If they signed some new show maybe I'd come back. The Oakerson/Soder show could have done it, but they botched that too of course.

I left howard in the early 2000's but once they alienate all the live programing why would someone get Sirius/XM (unless you can't get cell service)? Outside of a few of the sports channels and Ron and Fez you can get similar content elsewhere.

i'm not opposed to his style of humor, i'm not offended, i don't really hate him. but i tried listening to his show here and there over the years and it really was just poorly done. it wasn't for someone my age. really young people, and really old people would seem to enjoy it. not a young adult that likes intelligent but coarse humor.

i remember one time for a week i listened on regular radio and it was alright, but they always had these stupid sound effects like farting that would be needlessly interspersed in there. and naked women on the radio? what the fuck? who needs that shit?

but, i have the same complaints for O&A, they just did it less.

Satellite Radio is more than just some past-their-prime former shock jocks. I know people that have it that just use it to listen to music stations.
