Did anyone else really enjoy the first 2-3 weeks of Opie and Jim?

There was one episode that just signalled the end of it though, the one where they were talking about country music.. might be the same one where Jim kept saying "but it comes in it's own little box!" he was scraping the bottom of the barrel to end the misery that Opie subconciously wanted the show to fall into.. It honestly could have been a great show but Opie stopped trying completely. Now he's just doing a shit Ron Bennington impression as everyone sits in awe of his stupidity. Torpid sloth.

the only reason the first couple of weeks were interesting was because the shows were just loaded with comics...

ME: thank you!

I wish everyone put ME before their comments so I could always know who's behind the comments

Yeah because they went full damage control.
I think one of their first shows had Norton, Vos, Bobby and Ricky Gervais.

yup, and it was pretty damn good. its good to see the friends of O&A moving on and doing some great things, no offense to jimmy because i love him, but i'm hoping they keep distancing themselves from the current show, whether intentionally or not.

And Pete Rose

I thought that was obvious, they all carried the show for a couple weeks there and boy did we all know it when it stopped.

ME: Look, brotherman, we're still figuring things out here, and to be perfectly honest witcha, we're havin' a lotta fun with it.

Day 2 when Vos came in with his awful gifts, sat in Ant's chair and said "I never liked him anyway," Bobby, Gervais and Pete Rose. That was a great show to be fair, as good as the best O&A. The rest, some good things but not so much.

As good as the best?

It felt like an O&A show, I think is what he is getting at. Sometimes when Ant was sick, it still had the same vibe to it. Now, however..

Ok, maybe not the best, but relatively speaking, yes.
1 jsmill1 2015-03-12
absolutely. definitely better than any of the shit radio they pumped out in the first entire half of 2014. the apology clock was audio cancer.

And that was the last time when Opie would shit on Howard Stern for saying some dumb shit. I think that was when Sirius/XM performed the Stepford Wife treatment on Opie, because after that, he became Company Cunt.
R.I.P. to the show's good will.
2 NhaterJR 2015-03-12
according to the insider post oqie already re-signed at that point, stern prolly knew and thats why he said oqie shouldve resigned, oqie was mad because stern was attacking his livelihood

That was a great show and the last one I ever listened to.

same here, what a good send off, show boatin pete rose trashing the room with a asian boys haircut, ruthless.

Those episodes were average, but everyone at the time was rightly critical. Now, they seem like solid fucking gold. We can only look back on the fondly compared to the shit they broadcast now.

Now he's just doing a shit Ron Bennington impression...
Ugh, it's infuriating. That's probably the "radio voice" everyone was ranting on about recently.
...as everyone sits in awe of his stupidity.
I sincerely hope so.

Can you provide an example of this? I don't listen to the show but I'm in the mood for some douche chills.

I remember commenting (and most others): "Holy shit, this is one of the best weeks in O&A history...We will see how Opie does when the show is stocked with some of the funniest people alive"
After a show during the second week when the comics were out: "Looks like this is a preview for what is to come"

The general consensus on those shows in this sub were very positive. I liked them
1 Oanda72 2015-03-12
Eh, they were fine.

ME: Those were our lowest rated shows everyone including management love the new direction the show is taking the raitings go up everyday nice try with the hate though
2 ucfgavin 2015-03-12
tho*

The Pete Rose "he looks like a washed up soccer player" episode was one of the best I've ever heard. I remember being excited for the new direction of the show after that. How wrong I was. Ruin MY party
2 CUNTYMOM 2015-03-12
you insulted him a lil bit
3 OedipusOrca 2015-03-12
Not as much as I enjoyed the 2-3 weeks before Anthony was fired.
2 drunk8gods 2015-03-12
I gave it I think a little more than a week and I gave up on it. Opie's comments on the whole situation got more disingenuous as they went along. Jim's silence was deafening. Oh well.
TACS isn't perfect, but it's much more entertaining that O&J. Plus Ant is making strides on making the show better by looking for a studio space in NYC, while O&J continue to wallow in mediocrity with no 'video element' which Opie struggled to get for so many years.
2 shimrra 2015-03-12
I gave it a chance but the "new direction" just isn't for me anymore, so I stopped listening.
2 AntsCamera 2015-03-12
Happy desperation is always entertaining. Belch
Opie has matured, he is convinced he earned his job based on merit now. gulp gulp swallow
Nice try on the hate tho. sniff cough spit
2 chippersonlyle 2015-03-12
Opie isn't trying? Sadly, he is trying as hard as he can.
1 pissinurbutt 2015-03-12
The first day was kinda interesting. After that....nope
-3 dankfranklin 2015-03-12
Nope.
-3 [deleted] 2015-03-12
Around that time I kept picturing Ant getting punched in the face repeatedly, those were good shows.

No, because I'm not a homo loser.
