Patton is a crazy anamoly. The guy can recite the Nigga vs. Nazi dialog word for word on radio, then 2 hours later play to a liberal college crowd and get a standing ovation. Then he'll take the liberal side on Twitter through sarcasm and the left will crucify him. It's incredible.

I watched one of his specials and never went near him after that. It made me nauseous. Most of it wasn't even comedy. Just talking bitterly about the political right. One long segment was about a redneck who took one look at him when he was younger and called him a faggot. Literally the whole punchline was "can you believe there are people like that out there!?? I mean GOD"

His standup is pretty great. Not a lot of it out there, but what there is is worth checking out. Also, Arrested Development was hilarious, and he was hilarious on it.

Don't forget he was RC in GTA: San Andreas.

His show, "The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret" isn't funny either.

I love that show. It's not a comedy, per se, it's a cringe comedy. It's about being uncomfortable with how badly the character deals with everything, like basically anything Gervais does.

Cross is a good comedy writer, and actor. I like the guy. Mr. Show is his best stuff, so far. His character on Arrested Development was really funny. Stand up, don't know, never seen him. He was a writer for Tenacious D when they were on Mr. Show. He's had small parts that he did well, like in Men In Black 2. He kind of does a little of everything, write, direct, act - he's done a lot of animated stuff with voice work, like Kung Fu Panda.

He's a little too hipster/edgy/ironic for Sloths, tho. Ant could have had fun trading quips with him, but would have hated his politics. Opie wouldn't have a clue what to do with him. Jimmy could appreciate his work, probably.

He was on the Nerdist podcast in February, if you want an idea of who he is, he's a nice enough guy.

People in here are down voting anyone saying that, yes, he is funny. I agree he is funny. However, he is very opinionated and doesn't care who he pisses off. I honestly think that he doesn't understand that Opie and Anthony were always trying to not be the radio types that Cross has ripped on before. But what does he care? He doesn't need them. He was always more of an indie comic.

The problem is that most, probably all (there aren't that many), of his older specials are politically charged. He grew up as an atheist Jew in the south. So he really hates conservatism and religion. Since Bush is no longer president, he can't rip on family values Republicans as much. He has also gotten older and slowed down.

He was probably never invited to the show and never wanted to be on. Most of his bits are more story length anyway so I don't think he would be that in good in their 'hang' environment.

Yeah, I remember listening to at least one O+A show in which David Cross was a guest. He was horrible.
