It helped that Anthony knew his shit, and Ant and Jimmy could bounce enough off of each other to make it interesting. The only exception is UFC guys. I enjoy watching UFC, and I know Jimmy is a big fan...but most of them are duds and despite the enthusiasm, Jimmy can't pull off one of those interviews by himself.

Jimmy can't pull off any interview. As Colin has said, he's a fucking idiot who failed out after one semester of community college who tries to make the guests think he is this brilliant peer of theirs.

I don't even think Jimmy likes UFC, I think he just likes these top level athletes being nice to him and taking pictures with him. Every time the subject comes up it's "I just can't believe how nice the UFC guys are."

Kind of reminds me how Joe Rogan said that Jimmy is a right wing guy because that crowd actually pays attention to him.

Say what you want about Howard, but that show (when it's actually a live show) always has a lot of production and bits waiting to be done. I have discovered Howard since Ant's departure - I don't hate it. They actually make me laugh a few times every morning, unlike Jelly & The Paycheck

It's amazing to me that a show that is so vanilla and pointless has a subreddit with such dedicated, genuinely hilarious fans. In what world does that make sense?

This sub has done what almost every forum has done over time and turned toxic. What sucks for us is that this time it is justified.

After Brad Williams came in it seemed like Jimmy totally changed.

He sounds depressed on most shows. He knows the show is terrible and it eats away at him.

It's quite clear Opie is a true psychopath. I was just reading the list on the front page of top jobs where psychopaths work and media/radio was 3. Think about it for a second, opie has an extreme god complex, zero remorse, narcissistic, he married a trophy wife for appearances, he does his best to assimilate with comedians and even though he clearly fails at this he still believes he is hilarious and the reason for the shows success. Just look

4. Does not care about the consequences of his actions.

Yeah, but that's the path they've been taking for years. I was listening to an old Joe Rogan Experience and Doug Stanhope was saying that everytime he came on O&A, it was like they were planning to be fired at any minute, that they really didn't give a shit anymore about the show. I don't think they've done show prep in years. Why would they start now? Yeah sure, they could start working hard now to save a failing show, but what's the point?

Yeah well it doesn't work anymore without Anthony. So if Opie is so set on taking the show in a different direction how about he does just that.

I just come here every now and then to try to get more people to listen to the comics who appeared on the show regularly, since many of them have successful podcasts out which you all should listen to.

I used to be like you all too. I used to love O&A but slowly grew disillusioned and bored. The callers for one started to piss me off so much I couldn't bear to listen. Then Anthony gets fired and that was the last straw.

I spent a few months just looking for something else to listen to, and then I discovered Bobby Kelly's podcast. And even if you don't like his podcast, Riotcast.com has a bunch of them from show regulars liks Vos, Florentine, DiPaolo. Even Bill Burr has his own now. Burr and Kelly's are the best right now, followed by DiPaolo and Vos. Florentine is okay but all he does is rant on Facebook profiles.

It's an amazing substitute for O&A and these podcasts have many of the same people involved, so that's a pretty good reason to jump ship from Sirius and listen to those guys. And it's completely free. Just download the episodes to your phone and listen in the car. I don't even listen to terrestrial or Sirius XM anymore. Podcasts really are the future.

In their defense what do you mean by "prep"? Do you want them to put together fun comedy skits?

I'd argue for the OP that prep doesn't just have to be putting together "wacky bits." Its just planning shit, getting informed about topics so you don't sound like a retard on the air, etc.

And they used to do it, back in the day. They didn't leave the second the show was off the air. They could actually stand each other. They just pretended that they didn't on the show to sound like a cool show. And it worked, that attitude is fun to listen to, and secretly they're actually getting a show together to work and flow and have shit happen when the mics turn on. Less honest...sure, but its better than when they stopped doing any prep and just did current event babble with little to nothing actually happening.
