Did Sirius fire Anthony because ratings were dropping?

Did they do it so they could bring him back and get a spike in subscribers again?

No. Ant's tweets were dumb and weren't news worthy. I believe they had no intention of firing him until Opie went behind the scenes and pushed for it. No way they would have fired him like they did without Opie giving them a guarantee he wouldn't blast them daily and just give them dead air. Based on the lies he's spewed and other celebs putting him on the spot, it's all on Opie. The fact is he hasn't bashed management since and that in itself is pretty telling.

Ya this is basically a fact at this point. Just like the other countless lies Opie has told and recently copped to, he never fought for Anthony. Disloyal piece of garbage. I hope Ants show goes to the moon and we get to see Opie beg to join Ant later later on.

That's....insanity. Even for this board.

I don't like Opie. He's a liar and a scumbag and I don't think he minded getting his name and his name alone on a radio show and channel.

BUT. I just don't see this happening. I'd love to be proven wrong, so I can shit on a guy I've hated for years even more, but I just don't see it happening.

"The character's name is Brock Landers." "His partner's name is Chest Rockwell." "Those are great names!"

Opie went behind the scenes and pushed for it

really?

I considered that, but I've wondered whether or not we have it backwards. Is it possible that they had Opie by the nuts? Play ball or be forced out like Ant? If their relationship was as strained as it sounds, do you think Opie would be remotely comfortable leaving for the possibility of a show with Ant?

Because it sounds like both of them had no clue what the other intended to do post Sirius. And we know Opie couldn't survive without Sirius and without Ant.

Yes. That's exactly it. It was a genius move. Dropping the ratings for months and months for the eventual spike.

Next they are going to stop broadcasting for a month to create demand.

Fire Anthony so mass cancellations happen, and the former fansite turns into a permanent state of Jocktober. Yeah fire the funny one.

Opie complained about management way more than Ant, Anthony IMHO liked it there.

You notice, a lot of the sponsors followed Ant? Pajamagram, Steven Singer, Vermont Teddy Bear? I'm guessing he was probably more cordial to the hand that fed him than The Opester, and he actually did live reads AND contributed to the radio show.

Nope I think it's because they wanted to go the more cleaner less controversial route. They knew Ant went on his rants and they didn't like it. And getting rid of him saved them money.

SiriusXM's marketing department isn't intelligent enough for a campaign like that.

No.

Edit: I'm not sure if SXM even does ratings in the traditional sense. I haven't had a subscription since last year but I heard numerous shows talk about how they had no idea how many people were listening to them and that management was either unable or unwilling to tell them. I feel like SXM has a more "big picture" view of things and are only concerned with total subscribers.

I think only terrestrial radio has ratings...

Phase 1: Steal underpants

Phase 2: ???

Phase 3: Profit

CAH?

I'm not up on the lingo. What does that mean?

Cards Against Humanity. It's a game. His comment was one of the cards in the game.

South Park - the Underpants Gnomes

ERRRAHGRH! The pressure!

They haven't given a fuck about the show in a long time if they ever did at all, they found a way to save some money and took it. They're a shit company with shit management.

God damn, what a stupid post.

What percentage of subscribers listen or listened to that channel? 2? Maybe 3. They are irrelevant to the majority of Sirius XM which is why Meyer was so reluctant to take a meeting with them. Sirius made a choice to fire a branded racist over losing 1500 subs.

Exactly.

I can't figure out why this sub seems to think there's some Grand Conspiracy going on.

People get fired for saying racist shit all the time. It's been a running gag on the O&A show for years. Ant got himself fired over it. There's no hidden agenda here or backroom deals. It's just your run-of-the-mill firing.

Their ratings are non-existent. The ad rates and have not changed since his firing and the subs have remained consistent. It ended up being a blessing in disguise for Sirius XM and I can't image he will be rehired until they get Howie off the books

No and no.

Don't forget, there's only a small % of fans who don't like the new show

It's kind of funny how Opie has no more problems with management after Anthony got fired. Am I missing something?

All I've heard is that management is happy with the show and ratings are high and the haters are few. Before, he was always threatening to quit.

His firing is so suspicious. Why did Sirius fire him so quickly? There wasn't even that much outrage. Just a few websites had picked up the story. It's not like it was on TMZ or CNN etc. Also isn't the protocol normally to suspend the person first? Why did they fire him without even having a meeting with him? Isn't it strange that they had been talking almost every day about people being fired for shit they said on twitter for like a month before he was fired? Even the incident is strange. Isn't it strange that Ant was roaming around Time Square at like 3 AM taking random photos of hookers, and bridges? Ant always used to say that he hadn't been to Time Square in over a decade. He's also very paranoid. Walking around that late, with an expensive camera is asking for trouble.
