So what if she has seen someone else? It's not coming from Patrice. It's coming from people who choose to buy tickets and support the benefit. I don't know what the distribution breakdown is, but I would guess that it's mainly helping his mother and stepdaughter, two people who would need the support the most and have limited means to support themselves.

You don't see the problem here? Someone who wasn't even a wife and a side kid are getting better treatment than dead veterans wives and actual biological daughters. If his mom and sister really do have mental problems/sick sure give them some of the benefit monies. But this woman doesnt deserve squat anymore.

She may not have been his wife or her daughter may not have been his biological child, but they were still considered his family. And like I said, I don't know what the breakdown is of funds; it may all go to benefit her daughter and his mom now. But it's no reason to attack her or attack the intent of the show.

And I do see your point regarding veterans and their families--a lot of them don't receive adequate support or benefits. However, this event is not put on at the expense of those families. The intent is pretty clear, and people can choose to support it or not, support veterans and their families, or support both.

I never understood why the need to benefit his family who are all capable of getting jobs.

His mother is older and I think may have health issues. I don't know anything about his sister, but I'm not sure that she receives any money from it. His stepdaughter is a child.

Also, when the main breadwinner passes away, it can be really difficult for a family to get back on their feet after paying for funeral costs or any medical or end-of-life care. And if you are also raising a child alone, your ability to go out and get jobs and work can make it even tougher.

I don't think it's intended to be a sole source of income for them, but it's a way to help and ensure that they are taken care of. People can choose to support it or not.
