On the Norton roast it was mentioned that he wasn't successful at first in NY because people couldn't understand him. That he was forced to stick to Boston because of the way he talks. Not sure if that helps but it might be something.
It may be the audio quality, but I find it straining to understand what he's saying under that nasaly mumbling. His voice and way of talking doesn't really lend itself to mainstream success.
I saw him live a few months ago, and his high speed rate of speech combined with mumbling screwed up a few lines. The girl next to me said a few times "what? i can't even understand him"
Although friends with Bill Burr for many years, Joe Derosa had a falling out with him over unspecified reasons around the time of Burr's marriage to independent filmmaker Nia Renee Hill. When asked about their relationship both parties have declined to comment.
