Opie discussing Letterman appearance
2 2015-02-14 by NJPoster
During Stuttering John's appearance, Opie discussed Howard making a call to the Late Show to not have them on again. Didn't Opie and Anthony say at the time that Howard was full of shit about his threats? I believed that Howard was telling the truth at the time.

I find it fascinating that the dope truly believes that Letterman would be interested in having a couple shock jocks on more than once or twice.

The most obvious part of that lie was when he said "They told us to pick a date.....and...I think we did pick a date"
The most likely explanation here was that Letterman's booker said what he says to every guest, regardless of how they do: You were great! Can't wait to have you on again!
They did nothing of value on Letterman, there's no way they were clamoring to get them back.

He was soo bad on letterman. You might think he was Anthony's retard sidekick if you were just tuning in. Talking over Anthony telling him what stories to tell, nodding with a big ol retard smile. "can we throw the balls to the audience?" Shut up the only way you could even get them to like you was to literally pay them with money/ fuckung hate Opie

Yeah, Letterman was desperate to have Opie back to sit in the #2 guest chair, and do the retarded trained-seal clap while Anthony talked to Dave.

He was so nervous.

I always hated when they were trashing Rich Vos' appearance on Red Eye. Just brutally making fun of him and Rich has the nerve to defend himself by saying something like "at least I've been on TV lately." Understandably Opie takes great offence to this; they were just having fun making fun of Rich's intelligence and career and he has the gal to take a cheap shot at The Opester like that? This will not stand. Ope then reaches within himself and comes up with the best burn he can muster:
"WHEN'S THE LAST TIME YOU WERE ON LETTERMAN?
OHYEAH, NEVER!
OHYEAH, NEVER!"
I'd be surprised if Rich didn't have to go to the burn ward after that great line.

And Opie was just an embarrassment on Letterman. Laughing goofily and literally applauding for Ant. He looked like a volunteer at a magic show trying to play to the audience and be an actual part of the show.

The only reason they were on at all is that they worked for CBS at the time. Easy cross promotion. Their appearance wasn't memorable at all. What does Opie think they were gonna bring to the table for appearance #2?

I guess O and A thought they could have gotten a yearly apperance to keep promoting the show. I think had the show been more successful on CBS radio they would have kept the promotion going. I think the shows luke warm success (Much better than Roth but much lower than what Stern was doing) lead to them not coming back on Letterman.
Howard might have made a call but I doubt it had any impact. If CBS wanted the radio show promoted Letterman would have had them on.
