Opie's "bits" are something a 10 year old boy would be embarrassed to do
22 2015-02-13 by [deleted]
Grilling your guests about painful situations, i.e. death of a pet, bad break ups, friendships that have ended badly is not funny nor does it endear them to you. Throw in the inappropriate sex questions, that makes guests cringe while Opie is cackling away, because he LOVES to make people feel uncomfortable, is the reason a lot of them never come back. The few that do are ONLY coming to plug shit. Just because you think it's entertaining to make people feel uncomfortable doesn't mean anybody else does. Oh, that's right, you don't give a shit what anyone else likes. Mad skillz, Dopie

He loves to make other people uncomfortable but when it comes to him, he has to have a meeting before going on Ant's show so he doesn't get put in an uncomfortable situation.

This is the same guy though who can take a joke, but after the Paralyzed Opie "bit" he has to thank Bobby (I think) for allowing him to punch him in the arm.

Missed this what's it about
3 Aureez 2015-02-13
You mean the thanking him for punching his arm? (here) or the whole Opie can take a joke, once but in 2010 thing?

Time stamp , friend?
4 Aureez 2015-02-13
There is a time stamp with that link, it should direct you to 28 mins 56 seconds in and Opie says it not too long after that.

missed that, Jesus Christ. it was a hypothetical situation could you imagine if they really laid into him?
"thanks for letting me shoot you"

I think its in an episode with Mike Birbiglia in which Rich Vos starts tearing into Opie, calling him an unfunny white frat boy, then Opie changing his tune to get back on his good side.
Search it out if you haven't heard it.

Yeah that's always been kind of glossed over here, and it annoys me whenever I listen to that show.

This show is golden. Hilarious first hour of classic o&a. Hadn't heard this one before and the Opie trashing is magnificent

He did that earlier this week with Tom Green.
Midway through the interview, Tom Green said something like, "I wonder if Dru Barrymore will be at the SNL event. I haven't seen her since the divorce. That would be awkward. Anyway, I stopped talking to Glenn and ..."
Opie then says, "WAITWAITWAIT! I wasn't finished with that Dru story! So, you haven't seen her since the divorce?"
It wasn't your story to be finished with, Opester. Way to make guests uncomfortable for no reason. It's not like people give a shit about how Tom Green feels about seeing Dru. This isn't 1997. Let Tom be a great guest, give him some room to operate.

Making guests feel uncomfortable was one of the things that made the show great.

Patrice made people uncomfortable. The truth makes some people uncomfortable. I guess I don't listen to the show enough but what you described sounds like Howard Stern on the E channel.

I don't care how highly you think of Patrice, he definitely made people uncomfortable on purpose. I have heard MANY comedians refer to Patrice as a bully, even his close friends that ended the sentence with "but I love the guy".
Yes, Patrice made people think, and he was actually funny. That's how you eventually win people over, but that doesn't stop Patrice from being a bully.

I his huge coffin and his purple suit. That Dave Attell line still makes me laugh. Do miss the great Patrice O"neal though.
