What exactly is new or different? Comedian guests, stunts, whack pack segments, gossip talk, staff filler...it just sounds like before the firing on days when Anthony was sick/hungover.

Yeah not to be completely negative - but to try something different I'm fairly sure you have to actively "try something new". Anthony has "trying something new" built in because he's broadcasting out of his home and has a visual element. Just go ahead and doing the same show minus Anthony and the more conservative views he brought isn't even slightly ground breaking. If not Anthony, maybe bring in someone Opie doesn't necessarily "get along with" but that he and Jimmy have great chemistry with. Bringing in Florentine day after day isn't going to get the ball rolling on that. Or maybe just go full tilt into parenthood talk from his point of view? Point is ... it's probably just a line because he and Jimmy are getting paid no matter what he doesn't HAVE to change so why bother? It's the inference that there's trying is probably what makes it rough.

I'm not an Opie hater, but I've kinda wondered what he meant by that as well.
