It appears Opie has a very vivid memory of "OF COURSE I FOUGHT FOR ANTHONY"

yet can't remember one single detail or back up his LOUD exclamation with any heroic stories of HOW he fought. Hmmm.....does that sound like the Greggshells we all know??

It's just ridiculous. He's delusional, he was the one early in the year saying that he wasn't signing and that a podcast might be the way to go. Fuck this fraud.

I wish Ant would defend himself with a little bit of anger cause this is such a made up bullshit excuse.

And when was the last time Anthony actually did a Live From the Compound? 2011 or something. He never planned on leaving he just did it as a hobby because he enjoyed it.

It's Opie simply bullshitting the listeners who miss Anthony. The average, casual listeners don't hear Ant's perspective isn't heard. Opie is a politician, saying the things people want to hear. What was Patton Oswalt's idea for the show after contract expiration? What was Maria Menunos's husband's idea? Why did the guests feel the need to offer advice to O&A? Opie's bitching on a daily basis stopped after Ant was fired, but it's all I remember from the past few years. And it all seems fake now that Opie re-signed. All his whining was finally pacified when Ant was removed from the show, and it bugs me to hear him bullshit fans about Anthony wanting to "do his own thing." Opie might have wanted to do his own thing, but Anthony was FORCED to do his new show. I wish Opie had left back in 1999. He'd be second mic with Brother Wease, at best. I'd pay triple to hear Jim and Anthony every day.

Would LOVE to to know what Patton said! I seem to remember jimmy just back from break saying something along the lines of "we should definitely do what Patton said in October"

he did that shit EVERY SINGLE TIME their contract was coming up.

I listened to a show recently where Sirius was trying to get Anthony to stop doing live from the compound. Ant stated then that he was doing it in case bitch tits left the show and Opie let it be known it was a possibility. This was way back in 2009 http://youtu.be/B1JacX0vFgo

That's a great clip. Bizarre, from even a marketing perspective, Sirius would want that shut down. Imagine you didn't have SXM and your buddy mentions the show, you get to see what amounts to a teaser advert for the larger platform. Guess SXM is hitching their long term plan to car sales. Not like cars are being fitted with Wi-Fi and people have smart phones... oh wait.

Jimmy probably would have piped up and said something like 'Yeah Opie really was fighting management hard on this-' but instead he said nothing. He sat in that room and didn't back up that claim at all, which he definitely would have had it been true.

Or he just sat there because it was so blatantly obvious that they would stand up for ant that he doesn't think he'd need to defend the statement.

Look, now we're both pontificating assholes.

You didn't have to add "pontificating"

Yeah let's keep it clean, fellas.

Its a great word,....like peckahs

"DISASTERS OF PONTIFICATING PROPORTIONS" ole jocktober ringing through

does that sound like the Greggshells we all know

and loathe.

it's "complicated".

Greg lived with mental illness!!! He knows all about that world and is clearly mentally healthy!!!!!!

"Of cchhhhhourse"

I actually think Opie fought for Anthony. Opie has to know that the brand name was/is Opie and Anthony. Opie also knows his radio career wasn't shit till Ant got there (And even that took years to develop). Granted I don't think Opie threatened to quit or fight for Ant by putting his skin on the line.

Not defending Opie as I think he guilted Jimmy to coming along and extending. I also think Opie thinks he is more than simply a guy that got lucky he put Ant and Jim in the right medium and produced the show well (Producing is probably the only talent Opie use to have).

I'm curious as to why he would mention 'i'm tired of fighting his battles' yesterday if he did indeed fight for him. Not that I'm necessarily calling the Opster a liar, I just thought it was odd that he would even bring that up.

Should he have provided and oral transcript of his meetings.

Take the tin foil hat off

It's clear that there was no meeting regarding saving Anthony's job. Everything Opie told the audience is complete BS.

Immediately after the firing, Opie said he spoke with management and, "the door is still open a tiny bit - Anthony can come back here in the near future."

Why it's BS - Anthony was banned from the building and audio of him on a podcast was banned from being broadcast on SXM. That is the exact opposite of an open door.

Opie also told the audience after the firing, "I spoke with Anthony and he wants to do his own thing now." Anthony called that BS - so we get yesterday's new story from Opie, "After the firing, I could tell Anthony wanted to do his own thing." How convenient.

If we're purchasing transcripts, I would like to buy every show from 2004 - 2014. Then read back, on air, every time Opie gets caught in a contradiction or outright lie. Should provide weeks worth of material.

Very good points, Opie is a backtracking fool.

There's a difference between Opie and how the people here perceive him. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt and believe what he said because it's the most logical explanation.

I'm talking about reading between the lines.

I'd imagine Opie has fought some battles for Anthony, though not as dramatic as Opie made it seem.

Opie is the guy closest with management (not that he love management, just that he's probably closer to the programming side than Anthony and Jim). I have little doubt that management probably came to him at some point in the last few years and said "Think you can get Anthony to tone down the racial stuff?" And Opie probably fought that this "makes good radio" (although we know that he didn't really like all the racial rants).

Now Opie sees this as just another (and the biggest) "fight" against management for Anthony and his racial humor, and he doesn't feel like he can win this one by himself.

I think Opie was implying that Ant would have to come back and apologize (probably on air) and "fight this battle on his own" which is not unreasonable.

The other issue is that we all remember they mocking apologies from celebrities over the same issues. I respect Ant and his balls to stand up and turn down a $3mil job, but at the same time I don't think either show is as good as O&AwJ.

It's one of those times where you'd have to bite your lip because what you're doing is morally wrong to you, but it would enable the best situation to work out. (Like Norton used to talk about how Tracy Morgan apologized because he didn't want to lose his 30 Rock gig.)

I've got no hate towards any of the guys. I'll take and enjoy 5 and a half hours of mediocre radio a day as opposed to 3 and a half hours of great radio a day if that's all we're going to get.

Haha, you people are nothing but speculating Spektors, you have no idea what goes on behind the scenes.

Stop thinking you know these people. You're embarrassing yourselves.
