Anthony's firing OBVIOUSLY goes much deeper than a one-off "racist" rant.

I know Opie had a part in it, why the fuck else would he not contact Ant? He's guilty, I believe he influenced Sirius into viewing Ant as a drunk who didn't share their interests. Opie even fooled most of you into thinking his mom was a bad person too, he has no morals or respect for anyone.

IT WAS THE HAARP SSSHHSSTUM! MIIIEEND CONTROL!

To add fuel to the fire: ever notice it was always Ant's guys (Than, Danny, etc) that got fired or left? It's like Opie was paving the way for Sam "Ol' Troglodyte Brow" Roberts to get the executive producer spot.

I think its just cuz Ant is attracted to assholey, alcoholicy type dudes and to be one of Opie's "guys" you probably will be safe, agreeable & ass-kissey so Opie's type is the type that can hold a job better

  1. Ant guys: Derek, Danny, Steve, Stuntbrain, Than
  2. Opie guys: Sam, Travis, Erock, Troy

All the people who got forced out for the past decade were always Ant guys who took shots on Opie.

I would say that Travis is an Anthony guy.

Travis worked with Ant and did TACS a few times. Maybe he is more of a wild card. I don't consider him an Ant guy the way Danny and Derek were, though.

Travis practically lives out of Ant's house.

During Hurricane Sandy his family did for a lil bit. just a lil bit

Didn't someone say recently on here that Travis and Ant aren't talking anymore?

Travis responded to this rumor on Twitter and said he was over at Ant's for Christmas, and then made fun of the speculators.

That was the fake\real Danny account posing as Dugout Doug that said that. He had "insider info".

Don't forget Roland. Before Roland returned to the programme, his absence was frequently cited (by Opie) as the reason for the show not being bigger than it was.

Didn't one of Ant's guys also make a fake Opie twitter that just lambasted him?

It was Derek. @BizarroOpie. It is fucking brutal.

Wow. I never knew he has been saying "ME:" since 2011. What a piece of shit.

Hed love this sub now

Than was one of Ant's guys? Couldn't ever tell from the show clips I heard... I thought he was buds with Sam if anyone.

Than wasn't an "Ant" guy. In fact, if you were listening back then you would have known that Than was an "Opie" guy. They said as much on-air. The only member of the staff that was a clear-cut "guy" of either Opie or Ant was Danny. Also, Than left on his own accord because he was doing stand-up at the time and couldn't deal with the scheduling conflict (Jimmy could because Jimmy didn't have to be in as early as Than)

Ant and Danny's faggot relationship back then should be the subject of more criticism on here.

As much joy as I take in finding any angle to exploit Opies Stupidity/ignorance, this is not one of them.

Something tells me some of Ants racial talk has made management nervous for awhile.

Once Gawker hopped on, they feared it being picked up more widely, and twitch reacted and fired him.

Opie would not have Anthony shitcanned, he knows he needs him. Especially with "day off" Jimmy, as he smartly pursues his comedy career over this sinking ship of a show.

Opie called in all the comics who still need attention, then begged Ron to come in, when Soder, Florentine, and his Buttfuck Buddy Vos, told him to fuck off. We ain't carrying your show upper westside Manhattan millionaire spoiled whiny manchild ass, while these guys are working for 500$ and a free plate of chicken wings.

Something tells me some of Ants racial talk has made management nervous for awhile.

There's no way. Nobody in a position to fire him has ever heard the show. They're not consumers, maaaaaan. They're IN THE BIZ. They read TMZ, Variety, Page Six, "inside" gossip trash. "It's about us!"

So their first impression of Anthony was what Gawker said about him, "SiriusXM™ Host In Racist Outrage" or whatever.

That's why he was fired. Anyone who knew Anthony's shtick would have said "...And?" But nobody there knew it.

It's not Sirius's watchlist he was on. They don't have one. The entire corporate world has outsourced HR to the social media drive-by rage mob, and Gawker manages that mob. Anthony was on their list.

And he should have known that and not been living on Twitter like a needy tween bitch...or on there trolling for needy tween bitches. Just go to Brighton Beach and buy some.

The boring 'Apology Clock' bit could have made them a bit nervous, as it foreshadowed a possible refusal to apologise if ever suddenly mired in public controversy.

For that to be the case, though, management would have to actually listen to the show and know what was going on, and that seems unlikely.

But seriously, the whole "Leave it alone" argument was very telling: Anthony loved his job, and Opie HATED it. With some adjusting, and firing of Anthony, Opie is one step closer to doing the show he wants. He openly said, "We're getting sick of eachother, and we'll go our separate ways after this is done... Trust me."

Fuck Opie, he'd been fighting to push Anthony out for years.

Yeah, Opie had convinced himself that Ant was ultimately "holding him back" and wanted to get rid of Ant for years. That frequently cited fight happened in 2009. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if he sold Ant out to management actively but he likely just did nothing and reasoned that he could get more money and finally do "his" show the way he wanted to for years.

That was also five years before Ant's firing happened.

Please get a grip on reality, for your own sake.

So it's invalid because it happened five years ago?

I'm in touch with reality, not sure what I said that's not true.

I've thought about this before, and have always felt like Opie did some double-speaking to management. If management asked him how he would feel if Ant was let go, he would answer something like "It would suck, of course but I honestly think I could run things fine without him. I wouldn't wanna see him go but at the same time I have thought about doing my own thing for awhile, you know? We both haven't been all-in with this show, and he has been doing a podcast out of his house. It might end up being kinda cool. You know....seeing what we can do away from each other. Right?"

I totally believe his mom is nuts. That's why he is so insecure. Plus mental illness is hereditary.

Jesus Christ, go outside every now and then

If you listen to Ant discussing his firing, on his podcast, he said his firing was for "mostly financial reasons". You have to read in between the lines. The reason Sirius fired him, is that they thought he was dead weight. And that they could do the show just as good without him, just have rotating comedians on the show. And then they would save a couple million bucks a year. Clearly Sirius was WRONG. And the show sucks without Ant.

Only an industry as monstrously incompetent as satellite radio would never listen to a second of the Opie and Anthony show before concluding who the dead weight was, and then reason that it was Anthony when Anthony was 70 percent of the fucking show.

I don't think they ever listened to the show. I don't think they really realized how important and necessary Ant was. And you damn good and well ol OpieRaqio sure never let them know that. NEVER would he give Ant that much credit to management. Fuck, Opie won't even admit to HIMSELF that Ant far surpasses him

I actually think that opie had no problem with him being fired and possibly instrumental in his firing….could be totally wrong though

Opie was probably turning the screws behind the scenes to direct attention away from his own limited skill-set during their entire shared career.

Opie has background in pukey morning radio and purportedly studied broadcasting, so the geniuses that run the channel almost certainly assume he's the nucleus of the show and would likely trust him if he blamed others for sluggish ratings or poor on-air content.

Opie was told by the Sirius execs to STAND DOWN that day.

It was said before on the show that some of the higher ups were indeed black people.

Ant has been downhill since Obama was elected. He was easy to fire.

IT WAS A FALSE FLAG OPERATION.

You're a conspiratorial retard if you think Opie wanted Ant gone. Yeah, get rid of the more profitable O&A brand and put more work on his back. Opie totally wanted that. The clear, obvious fact is this: both Opie and Anthony realize they are more valuable together than apart.

Go listen to Alex Jones you nut job.

I'd rather fuck your muddah

I thought about this too, that maybe Opie actually pushed for Ant to be fired after the tweets

I totally think he did. Maybe not PUSHED but agreed with Sirius and kinda just steered his ship in that direction. You can tell because Opie never, ever brings up one thing about any discussions or what he did to try and keep them from doing it . And you know with his big mouth and bigger ego he would be talking about all his heroics to this day. He NEVER mentions anything, and when Ant's name or the "situation" gets brought up you can feel Opie's urgency to change the subject. Anthony knows damn good and well that Opie had his hands in this. Fucking sad

how long have you listened to the show that you think Ant hasn't been known to spend hours ranting about race?

As has been pointed out repeatedly, there's a difference between him ranting to a captive audience that gets the shtick and going on a Twitter tirade for the world to see.

no shit, but read the title of this thread. a proper response to this post is that it wasn't a "one off" racist rant.

"i know opie had a part in it"

Are you retarded?

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE

recycled show comment... ugh.

cunt

Only valley girls and Jim say "...ugh" as a comeback so you're either a hypocrite or a fag.

Right, only valley girls say "ugh". It is an obvious show reference.

I've been saying this from the beginning. I don't think Opie is the bad guy in this though. I think Sirius wanted to save money, and change the direction of the show. They wanted to make the show more "nice", with celebrity interviews. So Sirius decided that they weren't going to re-sign Ant. Ant knew this during the contract negotiations. So Ant did that black hooker publicity stunt, to get publicity for his future podcast.

Still trying to get that dumb theory off the ground? You are a fucking lunatic.
