The final stage: acceptance. My own quitting post!

You know how when you're an addict, and you hear about others quitting, and you're secretly thinking, well, I do NOT want to quit. And then all of sudden one day you start to wrap your mind around the idea that you could quit. I've listened since 2002. Like everyone, I loathe and disgust what this show turned into and am constantly frustrated by how the funny parts I love have gotten destroyed (especially in the last 6 months, obviously) in favor of filling up hours with horrid shit.

I tried listening to Serial and really enjoyed it. and then I took a look at the lists of podcasts for the first time and it hit me. I really could ENJOY and LEARN FROM what I listen to and not feel this weird obligation and self-torturing to keep listening to No Hopie. I still love Jim and will still go to his shows, and I'm not quitting this sub! :D But I'm done, done, done and I feel freeeeeee!

One of us! One of us! One of us!

Just do what I do and listen for 15 minutes a day to get a taste of that sweet sweet hate.

why dont u sit down and have a bowl of serial ssssss

I promise there is a whole nother world and you can still use this reddit to keep up with whats happening. Listen to R&F every day plus This American Life, Jay Mohrs etc

I'm in the same stage - just joined reddit after Ant's AMA and this is a good spot to keep up with what I'm "missing" by no longer listening to the show. I listened to O&A since 2000 and rarely missed a show the past 5+ years. I didn't think O&J was too bad at first, but I've officially cut the cord on that show now. Tried TACS for 2 months, but didn't enjoy Ant in that format as much, even though I used to like when Ant would go off on rants on O&A. I know it's still relatively early for that show and I'm sure it's getting better, so maybe I would subscribe down the line (especially if Jimmy were to ever join), but for now I'm content to fill the void elsewhere. Fortunately, it's a lot easier now vs. when they were kicked off the air for Sex for Sam. I started off with friends of the show Podcasts such as Rogan, Jay Mohr and heard a few others that Ant, Norton, Quinn, DiPaolo or Burr on as guests. Also started branching out with stuff like Serial or Radiolab - still very much seeing what's out there and would've preferred to still be listening to O&A, but the alternatives are not that bad.

Okay faggot, what's next?
