Regarding Opie bringing up old bits and shows like Real Rock TV or WBAB shows under the guise of making fun of themselves, he would always try to salvage a little bit of it and subtly defend it while Anthony and Jimmy were trashing it.

The one that springs to mind is when they played the Real Rock TV clip of them driving thru a red light and getting Anthony's car impounded. A totally phony and terribly-done sketch. In the midst of this awful old bit (which Ant and Jim were picking apart for the shit that it was) Opie said "by the way, for those wondering, we really did run the red light. Stupid management was afraid that it would encourage everyone to do it so we weren't allowed to show it all."

He honestly still tried to act like they were being edgy and ahead-of-their-time by driving 4 MPH thru a red light.

In every one of those real rock TV bits Opie always had an excuse for his douchy behaviour. When he was rubbing sunscreen on the girl at the beach like an awkward virgin "hey my chickkkk was watching off camera!"

In the history of the show he never lets himself be the abject loser in any story. Gets caught telling the listener "late 20s whaayyy" even though he was mid-30s "hey management told us we had to pretend to be younger". Finds another guys basketball shoes in his girlfriends room "hey but I still fuckkkked her!".

I hate the word too but Opie is definitely a bully. From the time I started listening to now there has been a major culture shift away from bullying behavior, and Opie, as well as Florentine, Norton, diPaolo, Vos etc.. don't know what to do with their act now that everybody is more sensitive and repulsed by acts of bullying. I think people are tired of the constant meanness, because when you hate everybody and everything, you never actually enjoy something and you start looking inward and realize that you are just as fucking retarded as everybody you're making fun of. The Opie and Anthony show are the original trolls, and that shit got old as it always does. And now he is saying that he is looking for nice people on Twitter? Fuck you, Opie. You deserve everything you're getting.

Not to sound like a complete hole but I did loose interest in the hating and trashing shit as a form of entertainment. We get it, we can't all be as cool and edgy!

People are kind of tired of it. I am going to dig a little deep here. In the 90's when things in the country seemed to be going better this was more accepted (and newer) form of entertainment.

In 2015, shit is not going that great. People would rather be entertained in other ways then trashing on shit and being negative.

Adam Carolla does a form of bashing and trashing which I find easier to digest because he is usually bashing govt and social incompetence which is more entertaining to me (but i get tired of that also after a point) But the Opie style bashing of "your not as edgy as me, I say fuck maaaaaaan" is cashed in and dumb.

I mean Flortine is a guy who all he does is bash everyone elses stuff they like. Can't even put ketchup on a darn hot dog around him - but yet he is into fucking hair metal from the 80's? HAIR METAL? and he is making fun of people who like Game of Thrones. are you kidding me dude. All he wears is ACDC and Mega Death shirts. what a dweeb. And he is only a complete loser for liking Hair Metal (could u be more outdated) because he shits on everyone else. I personally don't care what people like but he is just so classic to hate on everyone but ironically you like Hair Metal.

After a while Jocktober got uncomfortable for me. For starters, Opie clearly isn't any better than the radio he mocks and in many ways is worse. Opie is paid many times more than most terrestrial shows with total creative freedom, brilliant cohosts and the best standups in the country and he has produced drivel without Anthony.

Finally, you're right. I hate how Opie, who cannot brook one second of present day criticism, trots out this 15 and 20 year old material to show how "magnanimous" he is, as Colin Quinn would put it.
