God, I really love listening to Ronny B speak. He is such an insightful guy.
I didn't take this as a bash on Sam, this was honest advice and insight. Sam started with SXM right out of college, 10 years ago, he never has worked anywhere else. He just hunkered down and did his thing there, which is fine - in a way. But Ronny B's point is that management (and this goes for most companies) only view you as what they gave you. thats why to move forward you need to jump around more than Sam did/does. Sam should have been out of there years ago, cashed in on his experience and went off to somewhere else where he would have gotten more respect and power - based on his past experiences with such a large company. Sal did the right thing, put a few years in with the big show and move on.
If Opie is Jabba the Hut (has the breasts to be) , Sam made a career form being that little rat that chilled on his tale and laughed at his all Han Solo jokes.
SXM mgmt barley cares about Opie, Sam thinks he is on their radar?
LOL later on Sam says his show is good because he is a guy with his finger on the pulse of Pop Culture.
WHO FUCKING CARES ABOUT POP CULTURE, 15 YEAR OLD GIRLS.
You know what is interesting? Technology, History, Sex, Science, Drug Use, Classic movies, creative people, new ideas, interesting new products and companies, space travel...
With Eastside Dave now as the co-Host of a NJ morning drive show, do u think he is in a better place now, career-wise than Sam? I'm not saying he is or isn't. I really don't know
You make your mark in terrestrial radio on your own. You never get any further than you started once you hitch yourself to a made talent. Ron is right. Sam should have done terrestrial years ago, maybe even in 2010. All Sam will ever be seen as is Opie "Boy" AKA Bitch.
He might honestly have gotten his own satellite show if he wouldn't have discounted terrestrial. If his end game was to get a show on Opie's channel he should have been doing good terrestrial radio 4 or 5 years ago at this point.
Sam might already be a year into his own show on Opie's channel instead of still begging for it. Especially in light of Ant's firing. That would have been a perfect time for a terrestrial radio established Sam Roberts to get a show.
I consider ESD to be ahead of Sam career-wise now.
They hire generic broadcasters. Sam's look and voice wouldn't cut it in the WWE. Plus, they don't really care how much knowledge you have about their own product.
I think he's getting his own everyday show or something other than the Friday show. Opie was being vague and saying it's time and Sam will be missed during Monday's show. Unless I heard wrong and in that case Me: "what happened? I tapped out over a minute ago"
Ron really showed how delusional Sam is about his "talent". The interaction was pretty similar to how when Ron is trying to talk some sense to Fez and he completely ignores Ron's solid points and just steamrolls forward with his own out of touch beliefs.
I don't hate Sam that much but I too think he is in trouble when ole fat tits is forced out/retires.
He thinks he's "on the pulse of what is hip and new." Those are almost his exact words, as douchey as they are.
Who wants that from a 35 year old married man with a voice like Guantanamo Bay torture audio? Does he think he's a hit with the young women demo that likes gossip and top 40 music? If he was, why didn't he get that E! gig?

Sam has an amazingly over-inflated opinion of his on air talent.
Sam is nothing without Opie, and Opie has become a complete nothing.

Sam & Pepper interaction is like Jetsons meeting the Flinstones. Odd. Yea Ron was dropping some reality into Sam

I can almost hear Ron's inner-voice say "This motherfucker really thinks he's somebody in this business."

He doesn't have his own show yet? Doesn't he do shit for Hits 1 or something?
I always wondered how he doesn't get a job with WWE. He seems to know all the guys.
