So which stand-ups are great on the radio and not good at stand-up? How about vice versa?

Only a select few are great at both

Jimmy's specials have never been funny to me, but I find him fucking hilarious conversationally.

Jimmy being the prime example I think for most of us. He's great on the radio, I just don't enjoy his standup unfortunately. When quick on air, he's hilarious. However when he has time to plan out material, it's always very stale by the time he says it.

Rich Vos supposedly has a brilliant act, but I can't stand him on the radio.

Patrice is hilarious to me no matter what. Chris Rock's stand-up is among some of my all time favorites, but his few in studio appearances have been crap.

I sort of disagree about Jimmy not being a funny stand-up. For some reason, his specials aren't nearly as funny as when I see him at the Cellar. He's much more conversational. His stand-ups are too high energy for me. But he's great at smaller clubs.

Chippah's great at both.

Jim Norton.

Patrice comes to mind.

Elephant In The Room is one of the best specials I've ever seen. I rewatch it and still laugh like it's the first time I've heard the punchline.

That's great. I wish I were able to get into his stand-up.

I laughed at the Elephant In The Room bits each of the twenty times Patrice did them on O&A.

So you don't like Bill Burr or Louis CK specials either then?

Never liked Bill Burr and never thought Louis recycled O&A bits for all of his specials.

Almost, if not all, of Louis' reconizable bits are rehashed from his O&A conversations.

Kids are assholes, little girls vaginas, the origin of the word nigger, being a white mexican, getting old, technology, etc etc etc.

Well Louis isn't my favorite either. He's not shocking after you hear him say shit faggot cock shit once.

So I guess I should ask. Who do you like?

I like Colin, Vos, Florentine, Radio/off stage Norton, and Patrice, for starters.
