OK hear me out...

Both Lucas and Opie rode to success largely on the backs of others' accomplishments. Puddin' Tits had Anthony and Jimmy, Lucas had Gary Kurtz, Richard Chew, and others. When stripped of their crutches and given full control over their creative endevourerers, they have shown themselves to be unimaginative hacks. Lucas had the prequels, Opie has O&J. There are even some parallels to the re-releases of the original trilogy and the current replays of O&A that are tainted by the knowledge of just how bad Opie is. Then, you know, there's the whole tits thing.

The key difference I can think of is that, in all fairness, Lucas did really bust his ass to get the first Star Wars movie filmed, and at one point did seem to be an actual visionary with a real appreciation for the art of film. Opie, on the other hand, has never demonstrated any real abilities outside of marketing his douchedom and seems more interested in achieving fame through viral videos rather than through passion for radio.
