The show is dying without Anthony, this is a fact

We're in the depression era of O&A history, I only listen to The Jim Norton show and some of Anthony's show.

"The show" as in "The Opie and Anthony Show" died when Ant was fired. This new show has many of the same elements, but it's not the same show.
In fact, some people, including myself, dislike this new show and don't think it's all that good.

I went from looking forward to listening to the show every day, to totally abandoning it over night. It's dead to me. The only shows I've been able to listen to since Ant's been gone were the Just For Laughs, the Pete Rose one, and maybe a couple portions of the shows that Dan Soder or Kurt Metzger were on.

Dislike? I despise it. It's a weak, gutless imitation of what was a great show. I don't listen, I have no interest in listening, and even if they bring in guests I like,I have no interest in watching them sit dumbfounded at Opie's stupid fucking questions.
To quote from a shit movie, Rock Star:
Emily: Rob, I'm a business woman, and rule number one in this business is you go where the talent is... and all the fucking talent that was in this band has just left the room!
And that's not even getting into to #2 reason, Sam "The little shit" Roberts. I can't stand the sound of his voice. 3rd mic? Fuck you. That's what the show gets.
Jimmy is being wasted on this new abomination called a "show". His talents need to find a new home. Maybe not TACS, but he needs to move on from radio, and start writing more, maybe write for a show or two. But he likes having his pulpit, so he's clinging to the last shreds of his dignity having a hack like Opie stomp on his lines 4 hours a day.

I quit xm this week. Was giving the show a chance. It sucks now. When i told the woman why i was leaving (she asked) she said...yea weve heard that a lot (mad they fired ant). I was asked on 3 email surveys the same thing and i elaborated. I wonder if programming has numbers from the show audience dropping off?

It still baffles me why they haven't tried to mend the bridge. Sirius XM gains nothing by keeping Ant off the show. Nobody who could seriously hurt Sirius cares about the Ant situation. Nobody who could hurt Sirius came out and opposed it publicly. I really hope it wasn't anything to do with Opie sneakily pushing Ant out and getting into bed with management whom he all of a sudden appreciates these days.

You know that piece of garbage at Gawker would run something about SXM rehiring him, but it is likely no one would care.

No one cared about the original story when it happened.

The firing is what made it a story. They drew attention to themselves with that move. There had to have been an agenda behind this maybe Gregg pushed for it or they knew how much money they could save firing him. It was so hypocritical of them the point of satellite radio was to be able to say whatever they wanted, and he got fired for some shit he said on social media while on a break. What a bunch of bullshit .

I don't think it's even that complicated. I think someone up higher in management does not like Ant, saw an opportunity, and got rid of him.
Happens every day in corporations. "Sorry, it's out of my hands."

I find it hard to believe Opie didn't know SXM was waiting for an opportunity to ditch Ant. It's all come together afterwards too conveniently.

I totaled my car this week and have been without XM. Downloading Ant's show and other podcasts has been just fine...though I miss listening to Ronnie B.
I have been an OnA fan since 1999. I gave the Opie and Jim show a chance for a few months and while I do not have the hatred for it some do...it no longer became must listen for me. If I turned it on an hour a day the past two montsh it was a lot. ANt was too big a part of that show's success

It's been dead for a while.

Yeah maybe SiriusXM did us a solid, by holding a pillow over the OpieRadio face and holding until finished.

I'm sure Anthony would chalk me up as a hater based on some of my other posts, but I agree. Anthony is a hilarious guy, sharp, and extremely talented at Radio and interview. I don't agree with him on every issue, but I recognize talent. He has entertained me through some rough times in life and I am grateful.

I miss the fuck out of The O&A show. What makes it worse is I had only been a fan for a year before Anthony got fired, I still try to listen O&J and TACS but they're not must listens like O&A was. I still hold out hope they will get back together one day but they probably won't.
5 cali_gunner 2015-01-24
I see Opie replaced within a year.
3 KennethFresno 2015-01-24
I listen to O&J, Jimmy can still make me laugh. But when I put on some O&A I just get depressed. It's enraging that some liberal cunts on twitter that don't even remember the story anymore effected our fucking lives. Fucking shit. Plenty of great podcasts out there, but nothings better than O&A.
