This was a complete bullshit response. Every time this is brought up he responds with how much he misses Anthony. That's nice- we all do, but that's not the question. Why has your show failed to figure itself out in 6 months?
For someone who bitches about honesty he sure knows how to tapdance around the issue.
I doubt Jimmy is let in on the Big things like Ant coming back. At least not until everything is a done deal. Opie is the Boss, and that is the only thing he has going for him now. It won't boost his ego in any way by keeping anyone else in the loop.
So sick of the "don't know what the show is suppose to be" answer, its been over half a year, shouldn't some effort be put into "knowing what it is suppose to be".
Agreed, that answer was ok before they re-signed. But consider this: they've been working 4 months, after getting a bump in pay, and still don't know how to entertain people with topical humorous discussion?
Yeah I dont get it. I remember when The Ant firing went down and Ron was on with O&J and he was like you guys have to do something different what are you guys going to do? They had no real response then and clearly its the same now.
How is Fez dead weight? His dysfunction is magnificent. Ron and Fez is imminently more listenable than Opie and Jim has been. The last few months of them have been very strong.
Jim gave a weasel answer....."We're not sure of the direction of the show and we're kind of feeling our way through it" Opie said SXM loves the direction of the show, so what kind of shit is this? It's been 6 months and their show is terrible because of Opie and Jim knows that, but won't tell the truth.
Jimmy is second fiddle, he doesn't control the programming. The channel he's on is called OPIERADIO for christ sake. Jimmy flat out said regarding his creative satisfaction that "it's a tough thing to say" and "I don't know what the show is supposed to be."
If you understand the English language and understand the piece of shit Jimmy works next to (Opie) then his response was a nicely worded "no I'm not comfortable with the show creatively"
Keep in mind Jimmy didn't deflect and say "management is loving the show" or that "he's liking the direction it's going." He said he doesn't know where the show is going, and that's mind boggling considering we're half a year into it.
Opie the "point guard" is single handily sinking this fucking thing and his cohost can't save it either.
I get it you like Jim and you hate Opie but you are being way too kind to Jimmy in this situation. That answer is the same answer Opie gave about the show the first few months. Jimmy is also a big boy and he has complete control over his own life, I actually think it is worse if he is just holding on for the paycheck and hates what he is doing and Opie. If that is what he meant then that is what he should have said.
That's fine to think that Opie is sinking the ship, but if Jimmy is the co-host then he is just as bad for not trying to make a better show. If he truly doesn't like it and can't figure out what it is then he should change things or walk away.
I agree. It's just Jim being a pussy because he's doesn't want to deal with Opie. He knows that the self-proclaimed radio genius sucks and he's drowning with him.
"Creatively, are you satisfied with the direction of the Opie and Jim Show?"
"Honestly, its such a difficult thing to say because there is such a giant piece missing. I don't know what the show is supposed to be and I don't think Opie does, either. We're just kind of feeling our way through it."
He goes on to blather some more and says "Honestly" about 4 times in 30 seconds. Any time somebody needs to do that, they are withholding their true thoughts or just lying to you.
I'm also sick of this figuring it all out shit. They knew the first week of July that Ant got fired and it is almost February. Why did Ant figure out a full time solo show in 2 weeks yet these guys who have been in radio for almost 50 years at this point with a veteran crew of producers in a professional radio environment can't put on a good program? Ant was thrown into "the shit" holiday weekend via email and he's like Sergeant Barnes over there and these two idiots got big fat guaranteed checks and professional backing and they are Gomer fuckin' Pyle.
Finally, this isn't all just hater talk. Ron Bennington told them their show needed a total change in philosophy and a full revamp, which they have not done, and people like Colin Quinn have point blank stated to their faces that the way they are doing the show now sucks.
Anything other than Ant rejoining O&A would be a complete joke. It's probably just going to be Ant's weekly best-of on the channel on Sundays or something. Which again, would be a complete fucking joke. How would it make any sense that Ant is on SiriusXM's airwaves but not on his old show?
do you know if this has been mentioned in any trades? i haven't heard this and when i was at a radio broadcasters reception in September I heard that he wants a contract with Premiere.
If Ant comes back it would be amazing for fans but could the dynamic ever be the same? It's like that movie about the family involved in the avalance. Once the father saw the snow coming he ran leaving his family behind. Well the snow banked and completely missed the family. The father slowly walked back to his family and everyone looked at each other different it was never the same.
There'd probably be an awkwardness to it at first but I'm sure over time it would slip back into the old O&A show, it's just three guys talking after all.
When Jim said something to the tune of "I'm glad we miss him and the more we notice his absence the more likely it is he'll come back", my conspiratorial mind kicked in and I came up with a theory that has probably been come up with before.
Opie & Jim are deliberately doing a terrible show so that the company is forced to bring Anthony back in a bid to hold on to the listeners, at which point Opie reveals that it was all a bit and a plan all along.
I think Jim is fucking hysterical as a radio guy. I know a lot of people on here have turned on him some, and there are plenty of legitimate criticisms to be made about him (especially right now). I also don't think he could ever carry a conversation like Ant could, and he's a bit more 1-dimensional. But isolating just the amount and intensity of laughs I got from radio over the years, Jim is #1 for me. The amount of times I've heard an absolutely perfect line delivered out of his mouth fuckin instantaneously is insane. He can even do it at times when humor is hard to pull off - when I do rarely tune into O&J these days, when Opie's show direction has them in a discussion about something that's arguably less interesting than silence, Jim still manages to bring a small bit of funniness to it with a nice line here and there.
But if someone asked me what were the two absolute worst shows we could put this guy on to absolute squander all talent he has for funny radio, I'd say to put him in the second mic slot across from Gregg "Opie" Hughge Tits and give him a solo advice show.
Here http://youtu.be/9sbHfc5CTnI is a good example of how well Jim and ant worked together. Anthony plays the straight man the entire interview while having to deal with uncle Paul.
Jesus he cannot just be honest about it. He pontificates, he evades and he talks in giant circles. The fact that he didn't just say "Yeah, I am happy" straight away might mean that he's having a hard time convincing himself

I think it is proven that Opie isn't the boss, sure he is shitty but lets not act like he has any power.
3 NhaterJR 2015-01-23
I guess if he don't like you he can really gets you in trouble behind the scene
3 Moxson4 2015-01-23
Well think about it. Every Staff member who didn't kiss his ass eventually disappeared.
3 breadmoccasin 2015-01-23
He's the boss to everyone on the O&J show. Which is all he has, really.

"Opie really misses him too"
That's why he hasn't been on The Cumia Show yet.

Yeah what horseshit. Typical of Jimmy the Worm.

I would need to see at least two of Opie's texts to Jimmy to prove this.

Ronnie B was right, as always, national treasure that he is. He said Opie and Jim needed a total change in philosophy and show output.
They're Opie and Anthony Without Anthony and it stinks.
3 Jaaahhh 2015-01-23
Ron had the chance to ditch Fez aka dead weight and did he do that? No. So why should anyone take his opinion on this matter seriously?
4 BeerCanThick 2015-01-23
How is Fez dead weight? His dysfunction is magnificent. Ron and Fez is imminently more listenable than Opie and Jim has been. The last few months of them have been very strong.
0 WNEW 2015-01-23
The Fez Show alone is proof that he's dead weight.
4 DuckSpeaker_ 2015-01-23
To be fair to Jim, it is significantly easier to come up with things that the show is not.
Humourous
Honest
Entertaining
Relevant
...pretty much any adjective that would describe any type of compelling audio.
If I was really hard pressed to describe what the show has become I would say that it is 'existent'.
(with a lil taste of litigiousness)

If your co worker get fired and you get 30 percent raise for doing less work then maybe there is some good advice waiting to come out
12 lolwut314 2015-01-23
Jimmy's response speaks volumes on his frustration with the show. It was 100% honest, which is something that has been lacking from Opie.
Opie's response to criticism has come off as arrogant and egotistical.
10 Jimandthem 2015-01-23
How? It is the same shit answer they BOTH have given since the first show back.
